Advice on Angel Eye Headlights
Hey everyone,
I need some advice on my new headlights. I bought the chrome edition angel eye headlights from Schmiedmann. After having them professionally installed and turning on the car for the first time, I discovered that the rings are not continuously lit. Super disappointed! Each ring has 4 bulbs in them that are supposed to light up the entire ring. But I don't think my halos look cool right now; they just don't look they way I envisioned. I attached a picture below of my car with the lights on in the afternoon in the shade. The rings are not visible during the daytime - natural sunlight washes out the color of the bulbs inside the rings. I bought a Morimoto HID kit to help brighten the bulbs so that perhaps the entire ring(s) will light up better (so that they can be seen during the day, as the halos are meant to be!) and to have more visibility at night. I hope this was the right choice and that the HID kit will help? I've been reading through several threads here for advice, but I felt I needed a personalized recommendation. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, aesthetic1 I appreciate the responses from everyone. The pictures seem to be up and working. Last edited by aesthetic1; 02-19-2018 at 11:32 AM.. |

HID's won't make any difference, the H8 bulbs for the rings are what you'll need to change. I can't see any pictures yet so I don't have anything to compare to, but i personally purchased these from eBay and they've been great:

Yeah never going to happen lol. You'd be amazed how many times I've bottomed it out with the bumper as it sits now. The roads here are so shit, and there are speedbumps absolutely everywhere

I don't blame you man even here in flat straight Florida I've scraped plenty. I love lips but I couldn't justify one since I know I'd smoke a curb in a week.

I got this sweet kit from spyder! Led halos and swapped halogen bulbs out. The parts came out to $280 but the labor was only $60. I found some guy behind a subwoofer store to install it super cheap. Believe me I was sketched out but he did a good job I just stood over his shoulder the whole time. I'm new can anybody help me post attachments? I got a few pictures I would like to share

Be careful installing bulbs. I tried the LUX's a few months ago, followed a YouTube DIY to a T, and they looked amazing. Until it rained and one of them filled with condensation and took out the HID bulb and AHL warning lights came on. Thankfully after I used a blow dryer and silicon packets and put the stock H8's back in, everything worked out and I didn't need to buy new bulbs or headlight. You might not be so lucky. So make sure you're absolutely sure it's completely sealed. I'd recommend taping a couple silicon packets in just to be safe

I don't believe the H8 bulbs would work on my car though? My car is factory halogen and I am using H7 bulbs. I see you have xenons. I did return the Morimoto kit too. I'm a newcomer on all this, but I try to do as much research as I can. I'll be sure to check out ebay for some bulbs. Any more recommendations you have per chance? |

Would love to see your Spyders. I had a pair of Spyder headlights before I got the ones I have now from Schmiedmann. If you still need help on the pics, when you're making a post or writing a reply, scroll down and under additional options you'll see a button for "manage attachments." Then upload your pictures there. May have to be a certain size for the upload to go through. |

Had a South Florida coder do it remotely since I couldn't find the time to drive down. Did all my 1 series coding including the DRL and coding off side markers. Look him up Mybimmerbrain on here, great to work with.

Great app, very useful and convenient. You can code various things (doesn't do much/anything relating to airbags), you can read and clear fault codes, you can do a battery reprogramming, it has a data logger/displayer, etc. What does the corner light delete delete/turn-off?

Any proper unit will have a ballast, as do the CREE's you'll find on eBay. Look for anything above 40W that is specific for BMW to avoid fault codes.
