Is it me or there really is no way to attach the trunk net?

The dealer sold me a trunk net claiming it is for the coupe, but unless I am retarded, I don't see any 2 rear hooks. Perhaps that net is only meant for the 'vert?

Has anyone figured out a way to make the trunk net work in the coupe? Thx!

We don't get the rear hooks (2) in North America. Probably because we get fold down rear seats. You might have to jury rig something.

My wife's Lexus RX350 has a rear cargo net I bought after buying the car. The rear cargo section has NO hooks for it, and the instructions tell the purchaser to drill holes and install them. Maybe BMW has the same attitude. Can you believe that? Geez!

Right above the manual section posted by Lester, there is material about loading the convertible's (non pass-thru) trunk. So perhaps it refers only to the 'vert as mine has all 4 hooks - but if so, it's certainly not very clear.

Of course, the hooks labelled "2" in my trunk are on the center panel, not the sides as shown - so maybe there is a coupe version with them!

OK, so I guess I'llhave to take the trunk side panel out and see if I can work out a place to creat a hook.

I wonder if they sell the hooks from the convertible separately and I can use those to 'retrofit' them on the coupe?

I figured out a way to make this work for our coupes, not acccording to the convertible diagram above though, but still works just as good and requires zero modifications.

If you lower the rear seats and look through the opening from inside the cabin and raise the carpetted trunk board (from its tail end, i.e. not from the bumper-side end), there are 2 holes underneath it. You will easily spot a big bolt in each of those openings, but the holes are big enough that you can attach the 2 hooks there. As it is a bit indented, the bulky plastic of the hooks actually falls below the level of the carpetted trunk floor board, so when you pop the seats back there is no sign of unevenness or elevation. The only drawback is that if you want to take the net out completely, you have to do the same (fold seats down, raise floorboard), which is no big deal, 2 mins max. Plus you can always unclip the front two hooks closest to the bumper.

It is also a bit cleaner and more stealth as you can't see the hooks coming out, just the net edge.

I am the solver and also OP I bought the net after the salesman sweared I have 4 hooks (he must have been thinking of the cabrio). And I also wanted to figure out a way.

I will try to post pics over the weekend, but all you have to do is raise your trunk mat where it meats the rear seats and you will easily see the holes.

The cabrio has 4 hooks but BMW does not make a cargo net for the convertible. I check every month or so but they only make one for the coupe and it does not fit the cabrio (as the forward hooks are in a different location.

So how does that make sense: BMW is giving you a net for a coupe that doesn't have 2 hooks, and for the convertible that has 4 hooks and fully ready to be equipped with a net BMW doesn't even offer one? Did someone at BMW product/accesory development fall asleep at the wheel?

I was hooked (no pun intended ) on this for a while, and I think this is the same net as for the 3 Series. The Web site team probably missed that the 1er is different than the 3er. . .

Have Fun,
Rick

There has got to be a better way around this for a coupe. I noticed only 2 hooks as well & would really like to have something back there to keep loose items from sliding all over the place while driving. Any other suggestions?

I've posted the way I got mine to work, there are def no rear hooks for US coupes, so one needs to be creative. As I keep my FormFit cover under the net, one can never really tell I am using two holes underneath the trunk liner, looks very OEM and professional

I went to the dealer and they told me that my car is missing an option that would make it fit, so they didn't want to sell me the net.

I don't want to waste the cash if it won't work at all. Also I had the dealer price it out $400+ in parts to replace our trunk with one with latches for the net.

UGH

That's crazy.

But seriously, if attaching the net is that important to you (as it was to me), read what I did in post #7. It works just fine and you can't really tell it's a 'home-made' solution.
