Anyone know this car?
Hi, guys - I'm considering a 135is after losing my e92 M3 in a garage fire a few months ago.
I have my eyes on this one and am curious if anyone here is familiar with this particular car's history (maybe a previous owner posted here?) and also what a fair price for it might be. Expired eBay auction link here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2013-BMW-1-....m43663.l10137 It's currently at a dealership in the Bay Area. They are asking $30k and I offered $26k. They've come down to $28k but that still seems high to me (why oh why didn't I see it on eBay a few months ago when it was $23k haha). My offer also seems high but I also know these cars are pretty hard to find in manual. Any feedback on history and/or fair pricing would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Hahahaha that M idrive knob.
Anyway 28k does seem high but that miles is real low... all depends on how badly you want an IS... prices seem to be going up lately. |

As a quick reference - I paid 24,800 for an IS with 50k miles 6 months ago, so its in the ball park. Most people would say these are overpriced compared to regular 135i's but the upgrades are nice and the pickins are verrry slim with manuals regardless of the trim level.

The car I'm looking at is going to need tires and brakes soon, so I'm also considering that as I make an offer/negotiate. Really appreciate the feedback. |

Man, it's a shame they ruined a perfectly good set of 313's by painting them black. SMH.
Did they blacken the exhaust too?

FYI I paid 23k for my 40k mile 2013 135i fully loaded in perfect condition 2 years ago. Very unlikely looking at the pics. Looks too smooth and like they've been scrubbed of brake dust, PD wears noticeably from that

I know it's subjective and to each his own, but the IS is kind of a special model, so IMHO, altering the only two visually unique external cues of an IS is in poor taste (plus it really looks greatly inferior to a black IS with the stock 313's and exhaust).

Yeah this car has a lot of red flags. I also am thankful for the comments about the IS version maybe not being worth the extra money. I'll probably keep looking around and remove this one from my list of possibles. Thanks again, gents. |

There is no such thing as a "factory blackout package". There is a BMW black kidney grille, but that's it. So knowing that, it calls into question everything the seller tells you about the car.

But hey, like I said, to each his own. Might as well swap in an LS engine while you're at it. Why not?

Aside from the arguments that popped up for some reason, I'd say it's not exactly a "clean" example and you'd be better served bringing your $26k elsewhere.

Good idea. If you're going to pay extra for a 135is, it should be a stock 135is. Otherwise, there's no point in paying extra.
Pretty sure I've seen this car before, with the black 313s and black and white BMW roundels. Way to ruin the machined finish on the wheels, if they are painted, which it looks like. Those wheels aren't cheap, and they are the nicest thing about the 135is, imo. Also, as Cavpilot2k says, there is no such thing as a "factory blackout package" for the 135is, so who knows what else this guy says is untrue, since he's already ruined his credibility.

Agree to stay stock, I did get the Dinan software because of their strong connection with BMW but otherwise I will change nothing. Keep looking, price is subjective but personally I don't mind paying a couple thousand over average if its what I want. Paid 26k for mine a year and a half ago.

If you are going to shell out extra for a 135is, I'd recommend finding a low miles stock & well maintained. Otherwise buy a 135i and make it your own.

This thread has been an interesting read.
OP asks if anyone knows the car. 20 posts later and nobody knows the car But plenty of opinions from a lousy ad on the car. OP if you like the car, take the comments into consideration and make an offer. The worst that can happen is they reject it again. From the autocheck, it hadn't been driven much its first few years.
