Battery Cable Recall- Problems!

Just had my recall done a couple days ago. Went to start the car today (after having no problems or warning previously) and a host of warning lights went off and on, windshield wipers wiped, headlights flashed, clicking from under the glovebox, you name it. Car was dead in the water and had to be towed to the dealer. I had seen a few people having problems after having this recall work done and considered not having it done but I took a chance- should have gone with my gut! Guess I'll find out on Monday what the deal is.

Update: The only thing that they could determine was wrong was that I had a dead battery. This seemed very coincidental to me seeing as though it was only 3 years old but the battery was replaced and I've had no problems since (other than a new rattle somewhere in the center console ) Hopefully I have no more problems.

So when your car catches fire, that'll be the better option???

Ok...this thread is scaring me! I'm on fence about getting the recall done on my car also, but will it really catch on fire if I don't?

When I had my recall done... I made sure my dealer had done quite a few cars before - taking my car into them. I think they told me they had dome a dozen cars before performing the recall on my car.

Btw... they don't do any SW updates when they perform this recall. That was another thing I was afraid of them screwing around with. No more updates for me.

And lets not forget about pre 2011 cars needing the B-pillar insulation fixed as part of another recall in the past.In a crash when the pyrotechnic seat belts deploy some of the insulation behind the lower seat belt trim/B-pillar, can catch on fire.

@almsfan Canadian cars had a recall for the battery. Maybe that was part of your problem. ? BMW upped the Amp/hour rating for those cars.

Well , I had the recall done and have had no problems. And after my service advisor showed me a number of cables they had replaced, and how badly burnt/melted they were I'm sure glad I had it done
