This isn't really my main car, though I drive it as much as I can but I don't take it in the rain or snow for example.
So in the winter I don't take it much and I don't see that changing even with snow tires, I just want the piece of mind and the summer tires work in the dry but feel like riding on rocks wjem it gets cold. So when I saw the package on Tire Rack was $800 I figured not bad what the hell. But when it gets over $1200-$1300 my mindset is a little different. When/if I sell the car I'll do so with the regular summer tires and TPMS on it and just throw in the snows as an extra. If the buyer doesn't want to drive without the sensors then they can just choose not use the winter tires or have them installed. In my experience I love Blizzaks but they generally don't wear well so I use them as little as possible to srting them out over as many winters as I can get out of them.

If cost is an issue, why don't you swap your tires on your summer rims? I do it that way, it costs me $40 twice a year (with the assurance of a fresh balance). I am rather picky for the condition of my rims and that has not affected them in 4 years. Glad not to have the RFT anymore (summer AND winter) because replacement was more tricky. Like others, I carry a compressor and a slime kit just in case...
