Wheel noise, my story
I picked up my 135i in dec 2013 brand new and love the car, about a week after I noticed an intermittent scrapping noise from the passenger front wheel, you could hear it really loud if you drove next to a wall. the noise sped up or slowed down depending on the speed you were going.
I did a ton of stuff trying to track it down but couldn't, finally I swapped the front wheels and found that the sound moved to the driver side! I couldn't believe it, somehow the wheel itself was making the noise but it wasn't touching anything I examined it a million times. I decided to buy another wheel and when I put it on the sound was completely gone, I examined the old wheel thoroughly and can find no defect. I've never had any vibration from the wheel just the noise. Anyone heard of this and how it can happen? I'm befuddled. |

Just curious. Are these the wheels on the white 135i? Or are they something different?

I have the 313 style wheels and get a very soft swooshing sound from one of the front wheels. Not sure which one. The sound speeds up or slows down with every revolution of the wheels. I've had it to the dealer and they say they don't hear anything unusual. There's nothing rubbing and they've checked the brakes. Other members have heard that swooshing sound as well.

Maybe the TPMS or something else is loose inside the tire? Maybe someone used fix-a-flat on that wheel? Only way to really know is dismount the tire from the wheel and have a look. Some of the three series wheels have been to known to develop cracks. That could also be the case with yours. ?

I have had loose wheel weights cause rotation noises/rattles in the past. Check the weight weights and give them a little wriggle to see if they move around

If fix-a-flat or some other type of gel was injected into the tire it would be impossible to balance.

I've had this noise before. I always thought it was my brakes
