M sport package help on 2012 135i

Hi Gang,

So I've been on again off again back to on again on anew 2012 135i. I'm just finalizing things and was looking for some help on the M sport package.
The BMW website is a bit vague on their descriptions and info and my search turned up nothing.
So, is the M sport package purely cosmetic or does it actually give tweaked suspension settings and or other performance enhancements.?
It mentions the M aero package, but I'm not able to find a picture of this side buy side with a non M, to compare it visually.Where is this noticeable..front fascia, sides?
I hate run flat tires and wish BMW would stick them where the sun don't shine.Any idea what Canadian cars come with in regard to rubber and what the non M package comes with?
When you order the M package and get the sport seats, can you order it with the upgraded leather or does it come with Leatherette only?
Any idea if I can order it from the factory with the Version 2 power kit installed from them or is it a dealer only install.
Seems crappy that to order a sunroof, you have to get the premium package. If i get the M package, i get the sport seats, so it would almost be a waste to get the premium package where the upgraded seats are part of it.

I know lots of questions here, but any advice would be appreciated as i hope to get my order right the first time.
Thanks

The suspensions are the same. Its basically just a trim and sport seat package. Here is what each M-Sport options come with. The prices bellow were for my MCS 2010 135i. All 135i's get RFT (also called RSC). Canadian cars do not get the TPMS sensors inside of each alloy wheel - like US spec cars get. Canadian cars get the EU system which uses the car's ABS sensor to detect when a tire is going flat.

Leather seats are an option I think. At least it was when I bought my car. Leatherette was standard. You can order the PPK stage 1 when you order the car. When the car gets to the port of entry BMW then installs the flash(PPK1) tune or complete PPK 2 kit.

When ordering a new 2010 135i there are TWO M-Sport options. (I think this was also the way it was for all model years: '08-'11's)

#1). ZMP option code: $1,300 (Miltary Sales price) (can not be ordered with ZSP!) which includes

2MR 18" double spoke wheels #261M
337 M-sport pack, door strips in M, shifter & hand brake all M
481 Sport seats
710 M-sport steering wheel
760 Shadowline trim
775 Anthracite headliner (black)
840 Increased top speed limiter

the "other" sport option is this one: ZSP

#2). ZSP Sport option $1,100 (mil price)

481 Sport seats
710 M-sport steering wheel
760 Shadowline trim
840 Increased top speed limiter

So... for a measly $200 you get the nice Anthracite headliner, M-double spoke wheels (same size as standard car though), M door sills and shifter/brake. I went with the ZMP on my car. I order my car thru Military Sales program. I think the US options were a $200 each more. ? I think the ZMP option is more rare from what I have seen over here. I had to special order my car the way I wanted it.

Good Luck,
Dackel

PS: IF you do not order the M-sport or sport options (and hence option #840) your car is limited to 210 kph (135mph). IF you HAVE option #840 your car is also limited but to 250 kph (155mph)!
Hope this help you out.

This is my tentative build that I'm working on
2012 135 i with BMW performance package version 2, part number 11122184495
-Space Grey Metallic
-Manual Transmission
-M package
-Upgraded leather (If you can get it on M package)

I know there are better tunes out there, but like the idea of still being covered with this one.
A bit choked you can't get a sunroof unless getting the premium package.Seems a bit lame to me.
Just haggling with the dealer a bit as I can build the car on line cheaper than what they are offering. Not sure if there is a catch there or not, but BMw should offer as good or better at the dealer than what you can do online.

Thanks Dackelone for the info. I don't think there is 2 options on the 2012 M package but am looking into it!

Last first. Anthracite is a very dark grey, almost black, as in anthracite coal. It looks great with a dark interior. I have black inside of Alpine White and the anthracite is perfect. I think what Dackel meant was there are 2 sport packages; regular and 'M'. Yes, you can get leather as a seperate option without the premium; I have leatherette and think it's fine. Wears longer and no extra cost. Not sure about Canada but the sunroof comes on the 135 but is in the premium pkg. on the 128. I can't live without a sunroof, well, at least I like it a lot.

e.
Sounds like what is in my garage. I added premium pkg, cold weather, Harman Kardon, Sat radio, then black grill and ppk (with addl cooling $$$). Extremely satisfying car and with the ppk feels really quick (I liked it allot before ppk, but did that to stave of remorse from not getting a 1M).

Are there two leather options in Canada? I thought it is just leatherette or leather. Nothing like the M3 where you have all these added leather options. lol

Since you live up North... I would reccomend you ordering heated seats. They are really worth it. Over here in Germany I use the heated seats about nine months out of the year. Even in June over here!

I would also say take a good listen to the HK sound system. It truely the only option I regret not ordering.

I think in Canada the sunroof is an option on the 135i. In the states it is standard, though. I would have killed for a sunroof delete option on my car!

Btw... I think the PPK.1 should be fine. It should also be cheap at about $500 if ordered with the car. So I have read here on Bimmerpost.com But then again you guys up North pay more for everything BMW stamped.

Don't buy a 135i without the M package.

You will regret it the minute you step into another one that has the M package.

I don't think you can get the sports seat without the M package, not in 2008 for sure, maybe it changed after though

Leather or no leather is available on both M or non-M seats

The M Sport wheels are the same for 2012 M.Y. But the standard (base)wheels (when you don't order M sport option) are new for the 2012 M.Y.

Yes, slightly. I would also suspect they are stronger too.

Aren't these the standard 2012 135i wheels? at least in the US. They look a little different than the picture above. Maybe its the angle.

I actually like the look of these rims...I'd have no problem running these or the M sport ones

If you go to the link in this thread on the different wheels. The current standard wheels are lighter than the M Sport wheels.

Based on the same link the front stand wheels were lighter than the M sport, but the rears were heavier.

This is all on the assumption that the data is correct.

You are all right about the M package, with its great seats and steering wheel. I didn't get it because for some reason I thought the ride would be more harsh. I regret not getting the M package.

Style 372. They were standard on the non-msport 135i the last couple of years.
