Intense Build Thread (1M Wide Body Conversion)

I've been lurking this forum for awhile now and decided that its time to start a build thread for my 1M wide body conversion. Its been about 4 years since I've owned it and I am still not bored with it. I LOVE THE DAMN THING.. to the point of spending $$$ to go wide body. Thanks to TUN3D, I have built the courage to start this project. I will document the cost and process in hopes that it will help someone else! I will be doing this conversion in phases.. starting with the front!

Are you planning to do Pure Stage 2 down the line?
I didn't think upgraded HPFP was needed for Pure's Stage 1 power, or the M4 Flywheel either? Maybe just for reliability?

BTW, would be cool to see and hear your story when the car is done. I grew up in Oxnard and still have family there so I'm down there every once in a while.

Eventually I’ll go stage 2. However, im having a blast with the stage 1. Upper rpm around 17psi is a huge difference. I went E85 because 91 in California is garbage. Definitely more power with e85 than 91 acn. I upgraded my flywheel because my transmission was already being pulled to fix my DCT pan leaks. That way if I go high hp I’ll have a flywheel that can handle it. I sourced a low mileage one for cheap.

When you are in town let me know!

So..... sold my Volks to get new wheels. Decided to go with the Apex EC-7R in brushed clear!! I want to change it up from the whole dark theme and of course I need to go more aggressive with the conversion.

Amazing build. Great work.

Planning something similar. The 1M track width is approx wider by 7.1 cm front & 4.4 cm rear. (Info from www.ultimatespecs.com) compared to the non 1M body.

So inspite of installing OE 1M body panels, with the stock 135 suspension. The overal all track width will still be lesser than a 1M?

Do you plan to install M3 wider arms or use appropriate offsets on the stock 135 suspension to fill up the 1M arches?

Thanks in advance.

I just copied the 1m wheel specs but in 18s instead. I know the rear is actually about 10mm more out which should be fine. Depending how the front is I'll throw on a spacer. I have stud conversion kit already. Don't plan on overhauling my suspension to 1m/m3 bits just yet.

Got some work done! Everything went smoothly until I realized I was sent two right side headlight brackets... the strange thing is that it has the correct part number for the left bracket. still need to tweak the fenders for gaps and body lines.

Drilled out the horn bracket and relocated the horns with a bracket from Home Depot. Had to make the hole bigger to fit the horn with a 21/64 drill bit. I also removed the headlight washers and capped off the pump with some plugs from AutoZone. Didn't want to remove the pump and have a connector dangling there. I've already coded out the headlight washers.

So I'm comparing the 1m headlight bracket to the 135i and it looks identical except for where it attaches to the fender. It's just cut off? I think I can modify my original and call it a day.

Looking good! Did you have any trouble ordering body panels with everything going on? I need to finish my car at some point and need to order the 1M rear bumper and arches.

No issues with ordering parts. Everything came in fairly quick. Only had one mistake with the headlight bracket but I was able to modify my stock one to work. As for the paintwork I have a local shop that I'm close with they were able to help me out a bit. $800 was just for the front end. Front end is complete! Just ordered my rear end conversion parts and decided to go with Jay Meadows fender flares. I'm all for saving some money.
