Side skirt options

So on my 128i....I have been looking at side skirt options. I really liked the BMW Performance ones.....but there appear to be none available at the moment and no one knows when they could be back in stock.

There is also the M-Tech style which I have found a set of that I could get.

Would you guys settle? I do see duraflex options on the Flea-bay site, but have heard some pretty bad stories about fitment issues. I will be painting them Alpine White, and just wanted something that would bolt on like OEM....just a little more aggressive looking....basically trying to get rid of the "sag" look.

Any of you guys tried any Side skirts from the auction site and were happy with how they turned out? I eventually plan to change the front and rear bumpers to a 135i style....but baby steps first.

Thanks for any tips!

The original 128i bumper is truly the best bumper in the group imo. If its the LCI bumper get any other bumper, that one is the worst.

I like the BMW performance stuff, worth the wait IMO. But definitely no duraflex

Yeah...I agree. No one knows when the Performace stuff is supposed to be back in stock. It hasn't been discontinued, but may end up going that way.

I did find a set made by RW Carbon that are supposed to be made from the same OEM material as the original side skirts, and they are a direct bolt on.

All they need are mocking up just to make sure (although they told me it's a direct fit)...and prepped for paint.

They have numerous BMW products out across the various generations and models, and seem to have a great reputation.

So I pulled the trigger and we will see how they look!

Is it coming back? getbmwparts.com says it's a discontinued product.

I talked with a few BMW places yesterday. I had one guy tell me it was discontinued, but a few others showing in their system that it wasn't discontinued...but not available.

Who knows?

Hopefully the piece I ordered from RW Carbon fits with no or minor modifications. It looks exactly the same, and is the same OEM material so no dura-flex, fiberglass, or FRP construction.

I also spoke with them about the M-Tech skirts, and it seems that these are starting to get hard to get as well.

I will keep the thread updated. I looked yesterday on the site and it said "processing" still......so then I start thinking what if they don't make them anymore. I would think they do as they are advertised everywhere.

But I plan to mock up as they are supposed to be a direct fit. If they go in and fit good, I will paint them asap!

Are the RW Carbon "performance style" with the fake air intake like the BMW M Performance ones? On their site it shows M Sport style ones.

https://www.********.com/11/2/0/761/...de-skirts.html

I think ECS has some on their site that are the M Performance ones, but if they are from BMW then may also be discontinued & NLA once you try to place an order.

The ones I got were from here.

http://n5tuner.com/index.php?main_pa...7#.XHKXM3pOmyU

They offer M Sport and the Performance type.

I did talk with ECS and they confirmed they had the M Sport....but the Performance ones that are OEM are discontinued according to everyone I spoke with last week. Called quite a few BMW parts houses.

The RW Carbon are a replica, but supposed to be made with OEM material and a direct fit.

So ....fingers crossed.

Mine are on the way. I did just see a set on the auction site. Just search BMW 128i Performance Side Skirts. Looks to be a "scratched set" from Turner Motorsports. Really good price and includes hardware.

Since they have to be painted anyway.....looks like a good deal.

Figured I would give you a heads up as it might be an option for you.

No problem. Just looking out for a fellow enthusiast. It was a great price, and you might not see another set for a long time! I happened upon it by accident.

So guess what....I received my skirts today and they were the M-Tek style. Contacted the vendor, and he said he would have to offer me a refund as Rw carbon no longer offers these in the Performance Style

I can't believe I seen a pair the night before, but passed them along to MrKevin. I was so close to buying them as I didn't have the other ones in my hand.

I'm happy for him, but it seems that my search continues for now.

I've been wanting these since I seen them. So hopefully karma treats me kindly and another pair comes up for me.

I appreciate it. The others ones that I directed MrKevin to came up out of nowhere.

I emailed them this morning to see if they may happen to have another set laying around.

I assume eventually some will come up again!

I need some too. Now I have to figure out how to get there before Rmtt...j/k. Thanks for the research and updates if you find something. I plan to redo my front bumper and some other paint work, so I may as well do side skirts, but I'll only do it if I can find the performance type.

Well let's make a deal. I will keep an eye out and if I come across an extra pair while on my hunt, I will direct you to it like I did with the other guy.

Just do the same for me!!!
