135i Sport Button

I was cleaning the interior and noticed the paint (or film?) on the sport button was peeled off as seen in the pic attached. Since the “sport” latters lit on, I can’t put paint on it to fix this. Anyone experienced this or know what the best way to fix this?

Also trying to replace cover without dropping 75 bucks for a whole new unit

There was a guy on here who recovered his buttons with black wrap, and cut the inner symbols/letters out cleanly - can't recall how, but search and you shall find . . .
