So who's in 1st? jcrist? with Sgarrity and Dhunter gone, who else is your competitor?

well...my arms are super sore, cause while waiting for our after session after lunch, we hit the gokart track...boy did the steering get really light after that. I'm not used to hanging on the steering wheel too, got way too spoilt with the racecar.

I had the bolster to the max and that didnt help. I might try cg-lock before hunting down a harness bar.

Car has plenty of power. The idiot behind the wheel needs to learn how to drive again!
Franklin were you on stock pads or did your change out? Any brake fade?
How did everything go thru diamonds edge?

I agree with you too on the learning how to drive again. I havent been on track since Jan at MSRH with TDE in my MINI.

stock pads with castrol srf. First 15mins, surprisingly brakes were great. After that, it started to fade a little. We ran CCW, diamond's edge and turn 8 sweeper were the brake fade spots. PFC01 going on before my next event.

Yeah, Jason is in the lead. If my "master plan" works out he will not be waving a blue ribbon after November. He's a good friend/arch nemesis so it's good competition. Chuck Smith and Michael Johnson are the 2 other JP competitors that are near us in points.

the question is, which model bimmer can you drive bat out of hell and back that is not a collectable at this level?
"At this level" is a very vague description (street? track?) but an E36 M3 (that is prepared well) is always a good car to drive the wheels off.

Thanks

Easy peasy. E36 M3 for sure. They cost the least, are worth the least, and have good performance. Second would be E46 M3, which is actually probably a better package than the E36M3 , but will cost a lot more out of the box and in upgrades.

hmm... wow.. mental note.. get track pads before going to ECR.
MSR H isn't particularly rough on brakes at all. Other than the incredible heat.. which probably actually had a lot to do with it... I'm a bit surprised to hear of any fade.. Going CCW, I love the sweeper in turn 7.. and why are you having fade there in 8.. (as opposed to say.. 15-16 after gut check)

The stock pads are soft like butter. Add some heat and they turn to mush. Just 1 run at the dragon's tail and mine were feeling very soft. At the same time this is a good thing since I had to stand on my brakes about 1/4 mile from my house the other night to avoid 6 or 7 deer crossing the road. If the (cold) PF's were on the car it would have been very ugly.

i was too hot in the sweeper #7, braked for 8, got the fade + understeer, almost went off.
15-16 was fine (there's some runoff) but i took 17 real slow...that wall is intimidating!

Totally agree. Stock pads are great when cold but once you start beating on them its bad.

Once i had my hawk ht10's on my fronts and almost got into an accident because they are so slow to bite when cold.

Wusses! I don't even SEE that wall. you guys need some Road Atlanta " wall ignorance " training.

Someone asked me about a wall off track at ECR driver's left at turn 8... and my reply was the same... there is a wall/armco there ? Really? I don't look over there because I don't plan on driving over there. I literally had to go LOOK for it the next time I was on track. it was there, but I had never noticed it..

Not yet but soon. I'm testing tune #2 and plan on getting to the dyno later this week. It is noticeably faster but we aren't satisfied yet.

Dan have you experienced heat-soaking during the sessions ?

It looks like in order to produce more power this car has to get a new FMIC and DPs at the very least. By adding more boost you will make it run even hotter and this is where FMIC or Meth kit can come handy ...
