2012 BMW 1M Coupe available!
Hey guys,
I have heard from a very good source that there will be a special production of a 2012 1 M coupe... (yes I do know the car is not shown in the MY 2012 production list but apparently they will be made...) All I know is that it will only be for U.S. production and will make 2000... Have no idea on pricing but should be close depending on available options... My dealer already has 4 pre-orders... Good hunting...

There is a 2012 production outside on the US but no 2012 in the US because the N54 doesn't pass the emissions legislation going into effect on January 1

Wow, you must really trust your source to throw out a figure that triples the original number stated by BMW.

Thanks for the heads up. I do believe there will be a 2012 model. The Leipzig Werk told me in a email that they would be producing the 1M past Dec, 2011. The factory told me they would be making the 1M until March, 2012. I just do not see them making THAT many more 1M's like you say. But I will ask them when I go to the factory at the end of this month! Dackel |

My "2000" production number is as of now... If you know BMW... and sounds like you do, they change numbers all the time... Come to think of it now... for the MY 2011 production M1 coupe, the original number was 2000 as well if I remember correctly... and it ended up being 500 for the US... hmmmmmmmmmmm. Either way, they are going to be making them so get your orders in ASAP. My dealership has 4 orders in already...

Hey Guys... here is my original email to the Leipzig Factory...
Hello BMW Leipzig Werk, When will the Leipzig Werk closed for the summer? Some people have said for all of August? Also... will the production of the 1M be limited? Some say the car will only be built until Dec, 2011. Then the new 1er, the F20 will start production in Feb or March? Is that correct? Danke, David ............... Leipzig's answer... Hello David, thanks for your message. There are the answers to your questions: 1. Yes, the BMW Leipzig Plant closes for two weeks (23rd July till 6th August 2011) for summer holidays. 2. The BMW 1 Series M Coupé will also continue to be produced over December 2011. 3. Yes, that’s right. The production of the new BMW 1er will start in March 2012. Kind regards BMW Leipzig Plant Corporate Communications BMW Allee 1 04349 Leipzig http://www.bmw-plant-leipzig.com http://www.bmw-plant-berlin.com http://www.bmw-plant-eisenach.com |

Well that's four months past the December 2011 date for cessation of production so it seems like this car won't be that special after all.
Upside: everyone will hopefully get one, that wants one. |

The number just doesn't seem very realistic to me especially since 1M sales will cannibalize M3 sales which are already on a decline. |

Can we expect an official announcement from BMW anytime soon? Haven't we already seen announcements on what BMW will produce as far as 2012 models and the 1M was definitely not on the list, as you noted. Is that why the "special edition"? |
