Sparkling Graphite - I made a Dreary choice
So I opted for a Sparkling Graphite, and hope that its gets delivered next week (some hope) Unfortunately I thought Sparkling Graphite would look good. It looks Ok in photos, but jis ust plain dull when I have seen them on the roads. So I now realise that I have made a major boo boo I can see that resale of SG cars will be low in a few years time.
I now realsie I should have gone for a classic Jet Black. BTW TiAg and white are pretty stupid choices as well, and I don't think Black Saphire will look particulatrly good, unless its plished very day. Anyone else feel happy with their SG choice after a few months ? |

Are you crazy! SG is not dull out maybe there cars were dirty! Graphite is one of the most popular colors right now with all manufactuars. You will be happy with the color. If BMW thought it was a bad color they would not use it as the "poster color" for all there ads and stuff. So IMO you made a great choice. Wax that baby up and it will shine |

for resale, you can't go wrong with a classy color.. white, black, metallic gray (SG), etc. saying a color is a 'stupid' choice is a narrowminded assumption. you're just getting excited about your car.. don't second guess yourself, wait until the car comes, and enjoy it.

I have SG. With the 162s +xenon and sports package, the car still looks great imo.
Jetblack is a 'cheap'(non metallic) colour in EU just like Alpine White(only taxis have it here ) but in Cali or Florida etc it looks better I think... And Donny, you live in Blightey so GOOD CHOICE old chap |

The cars you see on the road could be dirty. I have yet to see a color that looks good dirty, but darker colors are going to look especially bad when they are not clean. There is no E90 that is old enough yet to be "dull" unless there is a film of dirt and grime on it. When I was ordering my E90 back in May 2005 I thought SG was the nicest looking color, as did BMW since they featured that color in all their marketing materials and brochures. I opted away from any dark color - but my thought at the time (and remember, this was before a single E90 had been sold) was that SG was going to be the most popular color (people buy what they see) and would eventually become very boring because of that.
I'm not sure why you say that Silver and White are stupid choices. That is a fairly strong word to use to describe someone's preference of color. How's this for stupid - ordering a car and deciding you don't like the color even before you have it. That's pretty fucking stupid.

Donny Girl:
Dreary is exactly why I specced graphite. Nice and dull so as not to attract theiving scumbags. You being from the UK I thought you'd be into that... Last black car I bought (golf V6 4motion) ended in our front door being kicked down by 3 masked men with knives who threatened to kill us for the car keys, so my previous 2 audis were dolphin grey for the same reason. I'm getting the 330i debadged and removing the chrome exhaust trims too. If you don't wash it for months it really blends into the background!! Oh joy to live in Manchester! |

SG rocks :rocks:
And so do all the other colours. Saying a colour is stupid is just plain offensive to those who have bought it. People don't go and spend a lot of money on a car just to make a "stupid decision", so grow up and show a bit more respect. Anyway, everything must look dreary under the light in the UK, because you don't get much of it. Here in Oz the light is very bright (one of the first things everyone from the Northern Hemmisphere says when they come to visit) and under the light here the colour is vibrant with many sophisticated hues and angles, really bringing to life the angular design of the vehicle. Anyway... if the colour was "dreary" why would BMW use it in just about every advertisement I have seen for the E90?? Closely followed by TiAg btw...

Same with the graphite, it just looks purposeful when dirty. i.e. 2 hours after you've cleaned it for the month.
Not like the black which looks dirty when its dirty. |
