Blackline Tail Lights

Agreed, most tail smoke options are dark and would attract legal attention. But couldn't this same look be accomplished with light plastic tint film? Maybe the bulk "tinted" film from Lamin-X?

If you put any tint on your headlights or taillights, the cops can bother you where I live and I don't want to give them any reason to stop me. The Blackline Tails are tinted on the inside and shouldn't be a problem since they are DOT/SAE approved.

so you think cops can tell the difference how your tails are tinted - on the inside or the outside? i think they'll just see that they are darker and the result would be the same.

That is pretty easy with stick on tint. Just run your finger over it and feel the ridge.

I'm hard core, so I have no issues with painting the tails. I've been doing it for years and never had any issues with cops here in Chicago.

I can do it for $75 a light plus shipping. I will be more than happy to pick up some cores to ease in downtime.

i found out the blacklines aren't actually painted or tinted black. instead, they just have black accents inside the light that reflect darker in the daytime. i saw some good pics on e90post.

On the 335i, the blackline tail lights aren't darker tinted red. There's literally black lines around the borders of the reflectors (which make the tails look darker in some areas).

Here they are on my 335i sedan:

Not sure if these would be similar.

im bout to bring a pair to the paintshop, but get it sprayed on the outside..

BMW wont release blacklines for the e82.
Asked my dealer, asked Munich..nothing. I hate BMW 4 that.
