Thanks, I was really disappointed I didn't get to ride with any of the 135's, that would have been a lot of fun... I just got to watch all of you go by corner 2. I did the end of the heroic spin/burnout by Dan (?), at first I thought something had blown up with all that smoke... good times, except for his tires that are now 2/32's closer to death.

The only upgrade I had was 235/40r17 goodyear GS-D3 all around, but tires are probably one of the better upgrades you can do for autoX (camber may be better, but I don't want to mess with that). My stock 205's up front were not going to cut it.

Put some good 235's up front and I bet those times come down.

I will also say that the instructors were very helpful. I had 3 different ones and they all had different and good advice.

Ah, I wish I could take the credit for that spin but that was Brian. I was the montego directly behind him on the last run. I had to fly through the millions of cones he left in the wake of destruction he called a last run.

You ran a square setup? I wonder if that helped reduce understeer. I know that was killing me (finally, I got to experience it in a real way first hand) on my better runs.

Great job to everyone! Especially the novices!! I'm so proud of you all. Great improvement by Brian (nice spin-out!). lol, I think I win most cones taken out in a single run by any 1er, though! Can't wait to see everyone one again at the auto-x in May.
Also, big hello to Mike (ML), and Will(aznw82) for just showing up to say hi!
Great pic, Taylor.

If you were on corner two you probly saw my wipeout in corner three towards the end of the day. That was one of the more fun moments, lol. nothing compared to brians.

Secondly, I had four instructors. three cool dudes and a BIATCH! my fastest lap was instructor-less however. so if I do it again I will definetly take them the first two rounds and then go solo!

It's too bad you didn't get to take a pass. I got to take a 1200 Bandit down a relatively short closed runway once (2500 ft total with an intersection with an active runway at 1800 ft, so I had to be shut down and off by then). I managed to hit 120+ before having to brake. So, 168 hp and the extra length, your guess of 170 is probably pretty good.

I don't think that 2/32's is hurting Brian's feelings whatsoever. I bet everybody sees CSL's and new rubber on his car sooner than later.

Squaring up the tire set up will increase grip at the front, or at least even up grip around the car, and result in reduced understeer. The understeer us a result of uneven traction from front to rear. The wider rear tires have more grip than the front, which results in pushing the front end. Adding a larger front sway bar will also help to increase grip at the front. Not sure if Larry is lurking around here to chime in on this one or not, but he can certainly help everyone understand the appropriate setup for their cars. If I remember correctly, he's running a square setup on Dunlop Star Specs with the UUC front sway bar and claims that the understeer is all but gone.

In selecting the coilovers and front sway bar setup for my M, Pete at TC Kline would not sell me a rear sway bar and strongly suggested that I remove the stock rear bar. I haven't gone there yet but have every intention to try it after getting the car on a course for a day.

I'll see your four cones and raise you another two in May. This should be an unspoken contest for the remainder of the series, especially if you already have a couple of good runs.

Good times all. I'm glad I showed up. It will be much easier for the next one since I've seen how everthing runs.

Dave is in set-up. He brought the Impala that Anton was driving. Mike (and1) is great, and he didn't mean a thing by it. Also, Taylor wasn't doing anything silly or foolish. Never even made it out of 1st gear.
Smile everyone.

I'm pretty sure an R1 can go 90 in first tho... Thanks everyone for the compliments on my smokey donut I did on my last run. I hit so many cones that run that I figured the second half of the course I'd just have some fun! Good times like always!!

Hey guys,
I was at an autocross last weekend (with a bunch of you 1ers) and saw just how many people were still using painters tape for their numbers. I asked a couple people that had magnets how much they payed and it seemed like a lot to me. So, I contacted the owner of a Sign-A-Rama in MA and asked him to put together some quotes for me.

1 number $7
2 numbers $6 a piece ($12)
3 numbers $5 a piece ($15)
These prices apply for up to 3 colors.
For custom magnets, I can help design them for you and we'll get a special quote from him.

If interested send me a PM.

*Admins/Moderators*
I'm doing this for the forum members, I'm not getting anything out of this and I don't work for the Sign-A-Rama.
