SOS failure message after new head unit install
Hey all,
I have searched endlessly and not come up with a sure fire solution for my problem. I recently replaced the factory head unit in my 2008 128i Coupe, with an aftermarket double din apple car play unit. Everything is working and sounding great! Radio, phone, bluetooth, etc. But at start up, I do get the SOS failure message and a couple dings. It eventually goes away and only leaves the yellow warning triangle on the dash. I don't have a bmw phone under the arm rest. I have no need for an active SOS system. How do I get rid of this alert? Some things I tried or considered: 1. Carly - doesn't seem to have a feature to turn this off. 2. Looked in the trunk on the drivers side to see if the "wire loop" hack is an option. I don't see the parts they refer to needed to jump? 3. Replace SOS system back up battery - I can't find a diagram as to where it is if it even exists? 4. Looked in SW Florida (Naples area) for a knowledgeable BMW (familiar) shop to "code out" the message. Can't seem to find anyone who can or wants to work on it? I can't believe it is this difficult to turn off this message. The dang system isn't even active anymore! Any thoughts? Thanks ![]() |
