Where do I say Hi?
Just decided to pull up a chair at this site as I hear more about the 1 series.
Didn't know where to drop the first post...? So here it is...~ I've been out of the BMW auto scene for about three years. Belonged to the local BMWCCA chapter for almost 5 years. After my 328is was sold, I just didn't see anything that caught my eye coming from Bayerische Motoren Werke. Ended up going with a SAAB 92x Aero (AKA Saabaru) for 2 years. Sold that -and while building an addition to the house, decided that a truck was needed. I purchased a Cummins Turbo Diesel 4x4. A most incredible tool. In the meantime, to keep my toes in the BMW gene pool, I bought a BMW motorcycle, a GS. I've been commuting with that for about 2 years and absolutely love it! I've been a member of the BMWMOA for almost 2 years. Plus, 67MPG isn't hard to swallow on the bike...My commute totals almost 450 miles per week... So when I began to hear the rumors of a 1 series becoming a reality, They (BMW Auto) had my attention once again... --------------------------------------------------- My real lust though may never be satisfied. http://www.egmcartech.com/2007/06/26...diesel-543mpg/ After having a diesel, I do not want to go back to gas... Just going over what little I know about the 120d and the 123d, I'm afraid to think that it they may never make it stateside. I hope to be proven VERY wrong... I've already written BMWUSA and told them, you bring it, tell me where to sign... Anyway, Hi from the great Northeast! I hope I didn't put anyone to sleep! Kutch |

Welcome Kutch!
You've got a nice commute like I do. I try to telecommute whenever I can. So do you use the bike in the winter or are those trucking days? I haven't been a fan of diesels (They remind me too much of my army days), but the new BMW diesels have me intrigued. BTW, thanks for letting your opinions re: diesels be known to BMW. It would be nice to have the option of a diesel here. |

Ibeam,
I've ridden the bike down to 4 deg F this past winter. Not that I do that on a regular basis, but its been done... Also, I actually got a response back from BMWNA. It stated the Diesels ARE on their way... I'll post a new thread on it. Kutch |

WELCOME...and I guess it is my time to say "HELLO" too.
Started ownership and BMWCCA club member since '00. Since I used to work for a local BMW dealership, it is almost by default that at least one car in the household should be a BMW. I am very fortunate to have driven and owned many "demo" BMW. Currently, R56 MCS and E90 330i are stable mate. After owning R56 for couple of months, I start to like small car more than family sedan. I suppose 1 series will reinforce that statement even more. Happy motoring, Mack |
