Well, so how well do these work? Also, do they work at all when cold? Not that I'd ever buy them, but I'd like driving a car with them once in my life for sure! |

Do you know how these compare to the movit gen 3? I read somewhere that they have issues with rotor cracking on tracks on the Porches, while they have no problem with the movit. Do you know if they require a bit of heat in them to work or they are 90-95% effective on the road?

Brembo SpA and its subsidiary, Brembo North America Inc., launched the Brembo CCM-R disc to the automotive aftermarket at the 2011 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show in Las Vegas, Nev., recently.
First introduced last year for the racing market, the carbon-ceramic disc will be marketed to high performance vehicle enthusiasts and specialty tuners. The Brembo CCM-R disc features the following: * high thermal conductivity (400-degrees Centrigrade, 752-degrees Fahrenheit) and maximum braking power, typical of a Formula One carbon disc; * durability and versatility, the key features of carbon ceramic material for road use. It also is designed for use in conjunction with traditional organic or ceramic friction materials. The experience acquired from making carbon discs for F1 racing, combined with use of computational fluid dynamics modeling techniques, has led to the definition of a venting system for the Brembo CCM-R that “ensures operating temperature will be controlled with maximum efficiency, under any dynamic condition,” according to the company. Just when we all thought you ran out of mods Looks great and the reduction in rotating mass is significant.
As a side note, with more of these going into mass production, pricing will def soften over time. When 'regular' ceramic brakes came out first on road cars, they were extremely expensive, still are for many, but price has come down. The ceramic breaks on the F10 M5 are $8K-ish (a lot less than on Porsche's), and the recently announced Audi RS 5 for the US can be had with Ceramic brakes for a $6K premium, which is actually not that bad.
