Without a doubt, but it's a ways down the road.

Bumping this up, any update with this?? I feel like they would make a ton of money if they built a kit for our cars similar to the E90. I certainly would be first in line.

Can't say I'm personally interested in a set anymore. Good luck to those who are.

Had a few roadblocks in the maintenance department before I've had time to work on these. This is freshly installed - so I haven't had an opportunity to form them with heat or anything. I do plan on color-matching them(not necessarily in AW) and I have some other cosmetic goodies that will compliment them rather nicely IMO.

Nonetheless; as promised, here she is.

These were the only other shots I grabbed that day. Both are of the rear, which I plan on spacing out a bit . The fronts are way sunken in and look bad. Although, my front right is rubbing quite badly whilst entering driveways that aren't level. Eventually(hopefully sooner than later since I already cracked the front right) I'll melt the lips in and dial in some camber.

If you look closely at the 2nd pic, you can see the latest upgrade in form of wood screw in brand new tires, just a few inches above the ground.

They look to fit real well. How much space did you gain from them?

Thanks guys. Since they're ABS, they conform rather easily. This specific set is +4cm(1.5") for each flare, doubled for total gain. I believe it was ETADRAFT that made the discovery that they mock up to the existing flat portion of each wheel-well with little effort, which is where I also decided to mount them. I used rivnuts(stainless, which broke 4 tools before I was able to get this far) and they seem to hold nicely - 10 mounting points per flare. Still haven't had time to get further than what these pictures show, but I'm confident that they'll be easy to manipulate around curves with heat. Once I begin, I'll take before and after photos. Regardless, I'm quite happy with the outcome so far.

A little hard to see - did you actually cut the rear for more clearance or just bolt these on top of the stock lips?

Thank you
Mark

I did cut all 4 corners for additional clearance, but this step will greatly depend on what wheel specs you run. I may have an old photo of it that way. If not, there's another thread on here regarding Clinched flares that I probably posted a picture on.

Got it. For the benefit of other users looking for this info, it's here:
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...2&postcount=26

It looks to me like the amount you cut off is pretty small, like maybe as little as 3/4"? Might be an optical illusion, but if not, I'd think that's not nearly enough to actually get the benefit of fender flares.

Did you pull your spring out and cycle the rear wheel through the entire range of motion and hit bump stop on the shock, not fender?

It's about an 1.25" up top. Initially an inch, but further trimming throughout trial. Probably a good hunch on the illusion as these are 19s.
No, I didn't because this was essentially the maximum amount of trimming I wanted to do in order to still be able to mount the flares to the flat portions of the fenders/quarters around the wheel wells. Also provided plenty of meaty metal to weld the rears back together.
I drove on it like that for roughly a week with minimal rubbing, but still decided to hit it with an angle grinder and sanding attachment. After that, I put tape on all of the arches and drove it intentionally hard so that I could see any wear marks that it left - none.
I do occasionally rub on the rear flares on hard dips at highway speeds, but that's more than likely due to the inner lip of the flare being at a 90 degree angle inward. The fronts have taken a fair amount of abuse, especially right-hand turns into anything with even a moderate curb.
If I had to do it again, I'd have waited until I had appropriate camber and wheel spacing.
My fronts look sunken in and could use a good 25-30mm spacer if I wanted them flush - I decided F-20mm/R-5mm would suit my car for its purpose (primarily a spirited road warrior).
Once I decide what route to go with my suspension(I'm still OEM + F Camber plates/R Camber arms) I might make changes. More than likely leaving it at this height and converting to Swift springs.
The previous owner of the flares modified one of the inner front lips to be much narrower and I think that that + ample camber would deter any real rubbing, even cornering up curbs as my left entrances are nowhere near as harsh as right.
I still haven't had much opportunity to do anything to the car except collect parts with the way my schedule has been.

At the end of the day, I would definitely suggest these to someone that wants/needs more rubber and is on 17s or 18s with aftermarket suspension. This is my trouble area, since these really don't work well with my overall wheel circumference and the rear bumper narrows as it continues down the wheel well. I have sheets of aluminum that I'll be using as valances to allow the flare to space from the bumper under concealment and somewhat flow into the rear diffuser.

They're universal - far from perfect fitment, but really not very difficult to work with if you have time to dedicate.

I have 275/30/19 on the rear and could easily fit more with the distance my tires are still from the struts and gas filler-tube.

Thanks - great post.

Here is a complete look at how the rear flares are done on a car for track use that wants to have full range of travel. It's an E46 but the process is the same for an E82.

Lots of cutting in the back to make it truly clear!
