BillDaCat8 1M conversion

Hey everyone.

I'll be slowly adding pics an info to this thread as I progress. Updating when I've got time and/or if there's actually something happening with the car.

I've started sharing on Instagram a little bit too. Have a look @ https://www.instagram.com/billdacat8/ It's super easy to post up pics and info there. However, I've learned so much here on 1addicts, that I feel I'd like to give back here as much as I can.

Parts for sale!

So, obviously I've got a bunch of lemans blue body parts coming off of the car. If anyone is in need of such things, please PM me. Bumpers, side skirts, hood, trunk, fenders, quarters, etc...

I'm in PHX/Glendale AZ. I'm willing to ship. Some of these parts are pretty large tho. So, the cost and potential for damage in shipping is increased.

Also selling the stock wheels (I think they're "261's"), the current VMR wheels (sold), the Berk street exhaust (sold), and miscellaneous other knick-knacks.

I converted my entire build thread over from photobastard to Imgur. It works well. I'd recommend giving it a shot. Also deleted all my pictures from that other host and shut down my account. I also recommend doing the same with yours if you have some hosted there. What they did was seriously uncool.

Looking forward to your progress!

There's a lot more to doing a 1m bumper than just just the bumper. Fenders and side skirts are different as well. Then there's all the other stuff in there to make it all fit.

Perhaps you're looking for a "1m style" bumper for your 135i. Search for that.

Quarter panels

Took 9 months to finally get the RH quarter panel. BMW has discontinued production of the smaller panel. Ended up having to buy the complete panel all the way up to the A pillar. If anyone can use this front section; please let me know.

Got the left side back in December. Only took a month to get. It's been waiting patiently and collecting quite a bit of dust.

Frt bpr

Unwrapped the front bumper for the first time this week. It does come with the little tow hook cover. So, no reason to order that separately. I am eliminating the headlight washers that are currently on the car. So, no holes for those.

Thx man. I've found a little app that is fairly painless to resize pics. Then I'm just posting them up via the regular forum uploader.

Wish it wasn't so expensive to do this! It's almost encouragement to create an insurance claim, lol.

Very cool. Keeping an eye on this.

So, I'm on hold for a couple weeks

So, my annual bday trip up to Flagstaff is coming up. Boss lady says that she'd rather not take her car on the trip. So, looks like it'll have to be the bimmer. That puts this project on hold until later this month. Which is actually not a big deal. It's still pretty hot here in PHX. I'm not exactly excited about cutting and welding in that hot af garage all weekend every weekend while it's 105° in there. The heat should mellow out a bit more by then.

The car hadn't been aligned since I set it up for a track day earlier this year. So, I just popped it up and civilized out a few of the angles yesterday. The bday trip will be a few hundred miles (some of it twisty, but most of it highway) necessitating a bit less camber.

Got these recently

I've read every build thread that I can find regarding quarter panel R&R on bimmers. Very few mention the use of these little reinforcement plates. I intend to use them at the correct positions. However, my plan is to weld everything in lieu of the glue method.

Yes. I've got most of the necessary equipment in my garage. The stuff I don't have is available to me at work. The pro-spot resistance welder (pinch welder) comes to mind. I'll be borrowing that for reassembly. Aside from machines; I've got a few talented friends that will be helping with the paint prep and actual painting itself. They work for beer and good BBQ. I've got plenty of that to trade.

I can ship them.
I'm guessing it'd be something like $25 per wheel for ups.

Pulling the trigger this week on a set of Apex wheels!

But thanks for the offer on shipping!

Not really. Need the car intact for a weekend trip planned for the end of this month. The weather here is finally starting to cool down. So, I'm thinking the first part of October will be when the fun begins.
