My car is E82 2010 my10.5 N55 DCT.
Ridiculous number of mods. I don't know the VIN card always at the shop being worked on. We have a mystery misfire we can't seem to fix. Engine swap looks possible. Has been talk of N54 Single turbo going in. Guess budget depends on my options otherwise really. Could be engine swap vs throw car away. edit.. If I did go this way it would be Pure S2 turbos Crank hub fix etc 700whp Last edited by Stools; 04-27-2018 at 04:24 PM.. |

Sounds really frustrating mate.
Can I ask where your based and where you take the car at the moment ? I do have some good ideas that immediately come to mind. Aside from the s55 I also have some options on some other things which might suit. Importantly in order how would you like to prioritise price, power, drivability / reliability and uniqueness. It's important to put that in some type of list order and il put something cool together with some crazy options. We could discuss s63, xDrive etc. Crazy stuff really. On the other hand that e87 s65 I did, might only be 250rwkw and cost 35k +, but it's got under 50k on the motor, complete m3 drive line, fuel system, brakes, suspension, cic, individual audio, comfort access and a bunch of other stuff. It's definitely a 1 off car, drives and handles unbelievable and is amazingly fun and reliable revs to 8300 all day long. Then install package won't win a power comp but will surely put smiles on the driver each time. You get my drift. So understanding that would be good. Personally I like to do everything 100% oem, because generally speaking no-one knows better than bmw, that's not to say We can't make improvements, however usually people change things because they can't make it work. Sounds like we could nut out somethings exciting and unless it's 100% won't leave my hands. P.s. please don't throw it away |

Cars at Simply Tuning (Brisbane) and has also been at Romano Workx.
Both place are awesome and have gone well beyond the norm trying to help me out. I guess at this stage I'd really like to get the shutdown in my car sorted, that's my priority. Engine swap would be a sad alternative. I'm 335 rwkw and I believe @11.8/125 off a 2.1 60,one of the quicker 55dct's. |

It can be very frustrating for owners and professionals when they work super hard to try and trace issues. I've spent weeks fixated on trying to fix a single problem. Then when we throw in the unknown, where google can't help you and nobody has done it before, it's another level again. So definitely feel your pain and that of the shops trying to help you.
Painful as it sounds, perseverance is the key. If you were in Sydney, we could look at it for you. I'm sure we would get to the bottom of it, how long it would take and how much it would costs, who knows. If your stuck, send us the car. P.s. it's great to hear an end user with an unresolved issue still have proper praise and credit for the people Who no doubt tried very hard to help you. Credit to you both. |
