The difference between my '01 M3 and a new 135i coupe was less than $2/month. Of course I probably have the best possible insurance rates - married, quite a bit older than 25, no accidents on my record, multi-car discount, homeowner's insurance discount, etc...
Nevertheless I was surprised that a new car would be virtually the same as my 8 year old car.
