840 increased top speed limiter
What is the option of sport package? I do not see it in window sticker, however it appears on dealer's spec sheet. Which should I trust? Do not offer to test please.

without the sports package you get gay seats and chrome window trim. getting the package is worth not getting those lame seats already so the shadow line trim and increased top speed limiter is just a bonus..even tho when i ordered my car i thought those things came standard with the car so i was pretty angry >=O but i ordered it before it even came out so i guess the options wernt fully displayed online

There has been some discussion about this. Apparantly all 135's come already with the top speed limiter set to 155 Mph. The sport package is purley cosmetic, sport seats, m-sport wheel, m-shifter.
However, the 128 is a different story. The Sport package gives you a suspension and tire upgrade. The top speed on the basic 128 is 135 Mph, the sport package bumps that to 155. |

It could bring the 128i (limited to 210km/h, same as all 3-series models) up to the 135i's speed (limited to 240km/h), though my brochure makes no mention of the Sport package actually doing that when a 128i is so equipped.

I did in my almost 260km/h which is almost 160mph, but thats Europe, so I don't know if there are some slight differences in speed limiter and also I don't remember if I could have pushed it more, probably it was just before the speed limiter kicked off.

Well then, you have proven that theory wrong. Originally, it was understood that the Sport Version got a speed limiter increase to 155 Mph. The standard model was thought to have a 135 mph limiter. Then reports from US owners with standard models were saying that they were able to get to the 150 mph+ range. So - perhaps it is a factory thing, did some 135's non sport get mistakenly built for 155 mph? It's mainly all acedemic any way since there is no public highway in North America with speed limits anywhere close to this. Some jurisdictions now will confiscate your vehicle if you are 'deemed to be racing' - eg. twice the posted limit.

So the SP increase from 130 to 150 the OP talks about only applies to the 128i coupe. In other words: 128i coupe - 130 [150 with SP] 128i cv - 130 135i coupe - 150 135i cv - 130 Tom |

does it really matter? seriously is that kind of speed necessary? here in florida if caught going twice the speed limit you go to jail and your car gets man-handled by jose the tow truck driver who will also rumage through your content.
