Sold! Injen Intake - N55 - Excellent Condition

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
USD 250.00

Location:
✓ Will Ship

Item Interest
I have an Injen Intake for the N55 for sale in excellent condition. I am the original owner of the intake and ran it for less than 1,000 miles. The only blemishes on the intake that I noticed are pictured below. They are very small and almost inevitable when installing. I wrapped the intake with blue painters tape and still got a couple little chips. You really can't see them when installed, but if you wanted to, can easily cover them up with some touch up paint or a sharpee marker. The snorkel is literally brand new as I never installed it. Intake will be shipped in original packaging with all of the original hardware.

I enjoyed hearing the turbo spool and butt dyno gains of the intake, but decided to sell because I want to use the money for something else (possibly toe arms).

I am willing to ship if buyer pays for shipping. Depending on location, shipping should be anywhere between $17 and $30 via ups ground. I am located in Carlsbad, CA for anyone local that is interested.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Quick question. Did you feel any difference between using the supplied plastic duct over the stock ducts?

Honestly, I have no idea. Never tried the injen snorkel. But my logic was feeding air through both inlets would result in more air than going through one. So I used the stock snorkel.

I guess sucking up all that hot air makes the car faster.

It actually makes Zero difference on the N55. I logged mine with the stock airbox, and the BMS intake, and Injen Intake. All on the same day, same weather. The intake air temps varied by less than 3 degrees, between all three. The aftermarket intakes are cosmetic/noise mods.

I recommend you do a little reading on the subject. This myth has been debunked numerous times by forum members and vendors. http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23993

Thanks Apex. I agree with you mostly . Totally agree that intakes are cosmetic/noise mods. I think this particular intake looks fantastic under the hood, especially with the wrinkle black finish. Even better is the noise, because you can hear the turbo spool and the diverter release pressure.

Just as the hot air myth has been busted, the no power gain myth has been proven wrong numerous times as well when used with upgraded turbos. I am fortunate to be around and ridden in some of the more powerful N54 and N55s, and both run aftermarket intakes. I can't even remember the last time I saw an N54 without an DCI. On the N55, it has also been shown that swapping out the stock intake for a BMS intake on a stage 1 turbo car on the same day, same dyno, resulted in hp gains.

On the stock turbo, most opinions believe it is just a noise/cosmetic mod. After owning both the BMS and Injen intake, I still do not know because I never dyno'd before and after. What I do know is there are people on these forums that sit in front of a computer and read all day, and do not try anything out for themselves. For every post where someone says the difference from a mod was dramatic, there is another post that says it was a waste of money. While I do read to learn about a particular subject, in the end, sometimes you have to find out for yourself.

My car power wise is capped out. For a couple years now, my turbo is running max psi and there is nothing left for me to do other than upgrade to a pure stage 2 (which I will one day!). I purchased a BMS intake to try out and hear what the butt dyno had to say, but my car seriously ran like shit. Misfires at WOT. For whatever reason, my car did not like it, and others had the same experience. It's not common, but it's not unheard of either. So I sold it.

A year later, curiosity got the best of me regarding power gains from an intake, so I purchased the injen intake with some birthday money I received. Car ran perfect. Logs are posted in my PTF e-tune thread: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1146223
My butt dyno did feel a difference with the intake, but that is all i can say. I am not going to sit here and tell people the gains were factual because I never tested it. I definitely didn't lose power.

Six months later and for whatever reason, I have the itch for toe arms . Under heavy load, I feel some very minor wiggle from the rear end. Of course in my hours of reading and research, I have learned that toe arms will either eliminate the remaining wiggle, make annoying noises, or make no difference at all. So, I want to find out for myself and to justify the the purchase, I decided to sell the intake. I am good power wise for now and I can let go of any gains looks, sound, or performance wise for now.

This is a great opportunity for someone else to get a very very lightly used and high quality intake at a nice discount. I believe this is the only intake that replacing piping all the way to the turbo inlet.

In the end, if the next owner doesn't love it, they can sell it to someone else, at a much smaller loss than I am taking.
