I guess the transition from amateur to professional is when U.S. athletes start the cycles.

Conspiracy theorist in me coming out.
Fair enough, this is a "I don't have proof" thread after all.
One difference is if that were really true, I have a hard time imagining the American athlete being allowed to continue competing after getting busted in the face of millions of viewers around the world. Difference is Russia doesn't care about the optics.

I disagree that the U.S. wouldn't put up a fight if it were in the same circumstances. To punish a child for the actions of adults? What about her mental health, so on and so forth. I can see the same argument being made about the mental health of the other athletes, but if your athlete can and most likely will bring home a gold medal, then who cares about the mental health of the Russian, Chinese, Canadian athletes? Many of the top athletes dope, including U.S. athletes, some just have better cover up programs than others.
In light of that, sports as a whole needs to accept that doping exists and not act holier than thou when a doper gets caught. All of it sucks, but it is what it is.

I think there should be a separate Doping Games. Everything on the table and people getting roided up and competing so there's no secret crap going on behind the scenes. That would be a true Gladiators type of ordeal. Lol.

I agree with you but I don't think we can say that 15yo girl is a doper. Her handlers, yes, but probably not her.

Doping begins as early as high school (..9th grade) for athletes bound for greatness.

Absolutely! The rewards outweigh the risks. There are ways around testing and ways of skewing things.

Eventually it all comes out, but like speeding…….you get away with it an innumerable amount of times before you actually get caught.

My in-laws are all doctors and are all into tennis. Every time a conversation about Serena Williams starts, I have to listen to how she is without a shadow of a doubt a natural competitor. I've never seen a woman with that kind of muscular structure. Could that be natural? Maybe. Is it more likely that she's been juicing? Far more likely.

I would bet a year's salary that the Williams sisters dope (…or have doped).

Haha, I would too. Tennis is a finesse sport and most of the athletes, including the men, have a very lean look to them. Serena Williams has a physique of a power lifter. Unless her racquet weighs 75lbs I don't understand how her muscles developed that way. Roids probably.

Agreed! ….and even small framed individuals like Armstrong dope. For him it was all about the stamina/recovery that doping provides.

Calling Serena Williams a natural tennis player is like calling Ronnie Coleman a natural cop.

It's actually quite humorous how many people think pro body builders are natural. I've been around so many people (…including those in my profession) who dope; most of my experience is with lifters as that was my thing for a really long time when I competed. I was tempted to try steroids so many times, and to be honest, the only reason I didn't was because I was scared…..

….scared that I would really like it and be unable to stop.

Kinda like ink

Since I have to inject insulin 4-8 times a day, I'm known in the family to have a way with needles. There were some who showed up with syringes/bottles, and they told me they wanted me to inject in their backside. Don't ask, don't tell. . .

Small frame but tree trunk legs like most cyclists.
He had quite the system though, lol. If there is one guy that absolutely despised Armstrong it was(is) Greg LeMond. He was a true hero in the sport and if I'm not mistaken, was a key person in introducing the use of carbon fiber technology in cycling. It should be no surprise that he started his own company that evolves around carbon fiber. It's also not a coincidence he located it right next to Oak Ridge Laboratories in TN.

https://lemondcarbon.com/

I actually visited them when they were just getting off the ground and met with some of the execs there. They came up with a novel way to manufacture carbon fiber in a more efficient, and less expensive way.
