Got my adjustable clutch stop in the mail last night, installed it just now.
Installation took a grand total of about 30 seconds. Installed it at full height (Level 4), which is equivalent to the aggressive clutch stop. and my review: HOLY MARY MOTHER OF GOD MY CAR IS 500% MORE AWESOME TO DRIVE. took my no time at all to adjust to the new height. makes so much more sense, it's much more comfortable. makes me wonder why BMW didn't make it like that to begin with... reason I bought the adjustable stop was in case I had problems starting the car. don't ever want to have that to make it inconspicuous for the dealership and avoid potential arguments like one of the posters in here had. I started and stopped my engine about 10 times right now, and it just failed once. But I dunno if it was because I pressing the clutch like a girl or what. Will use this for a week at least and if I run into constant start problems I'll go down to Level 3, which is 1/16" if I'm not mistaken. very satisfied |

ordered the adjustable stop today. not the most innovative design (stacked washers) but if it works im happy. might replace steel washers with plastic or hard rubber washers. will report back with my results.

My (non-adjustable) clutch stop broke off today while driving home from work. The plastic stem snapped off in the firewall hole and the rubber bumper fell to the floor. Luckily, once I got home I was able to push the plastic stem out through the backside of the hole and it fell out. I'm currently rebuilding the clutch stop with some high tech adhesive (aka superglue), and am ordering a new one - maybe I'll get the adjustable this time.

My clutch stop broke today. I couldn't even find the pieces. I've had it installed only 2 months now. I loved it though. I'm thinking of buying another one. First I have to see if the seller offers any kind of warranty. 2 months is a pretty short period for something to last.

Does anyone know where I could order the OEM clutch stop or what the part number is? Mine broke today while taking it out to put the replacement custom clutch stop. I'd like to have an OEM as a backup.

I installed ebay seller Pickyeater's standard clutch stop today.
It takes 30 seconds to reach up and pull the original stop out and put the new one in - I did it entirely by "feel". No problems starting the vehicle. The new clutch stop is a wonder, it makes driving this car much easier and much more enjoyable. |

So how is everyones clutch stop holding up? Are there other brands out there for our cars? It seems like the Ebay one could snap due to the plastic end that goes in the hole. I've seen a few others that have a threaded bolt that seem like it would hold up longer. Any thoughts?
BTW, I made a homemade one tonight just to see how it would feel and was surprised at how much better it feels. It makes me wonder why it doesn't come more like this? My Audi had the same issue and I'm now wondering why I never looked into this. |

guess bmw cheaped out on this a bit. the older cars had a threaded 3/8 bolt. just buy an elevator bolt from lowes for 2$ and put a little pad on it, like the felt pad you'd have on a chair on a tile or wood floor and you've got a solid stop. adjust it up and down and back a nut up against the inside of the car and it won't move.
the easiest mod for the drivetrain, and nearly as effective as CDV delete which is the best mod for a manual car. crazy you're paying 14$ for a piece of plastic with 2 washers on it, but it's a BMW right?
