A 330i vs 335i has 55kg weight difference.
How is it possible 130i 3 door hatch vs 135i coupe has 110kg difference. |

EDIT: Also, a 335i is 90lbs HEAVIER than a 528i. You just don't get all that torque without a weight penalty. |

that's what i and some others(Spin) have wanted. if it's waiting a year i would, if it's not until the next generation in 2011-2012 that's another story. do you think we might see the n53(direct injection/lean burn)) in a year or so if lower sulfur fuel comes on board?

[quote=hector;4432]You and I are on the same page. If its 3500lbs, BMW has failed. If a 335i weighs more than a 528i, does that mean a 135i is going to weigh more than a 328i?? I dont know, but 3300 is a nice spot.

135i coupe is 1560kg (3439pounds) to EU1, so about 1445kg unladen (3186pounds) |

3186pounds is the totally unladen weight (not EU1 / NA spec)...the quoted weight on the BMWUSA website will be between 3400 and 3500 pounds...I am 99% confident of that...mark my words! (or post)

using this article http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsAr...Series/226353/ they mention a power to weight ratio of 206bhp per tonne
using simple algebra 206bhp/1000kg =302bhp/x x=1466kg or 3225 lbs |

Hey guys 1st post here for me! Seriously thinking about dumping my 93 Supra for the 135i when I would be able to order one at msrp.
I came up with about 3200lbs with some quick math I did using BMW Englands website. Let me know what you think. 130i M-sport (3 door hatch) weighs in at 1450kg (3190lbs). For a comparison how how much more the hatch weighs then the trunked verion I looked at the 3 wagon vs. the sedan. Using the same model (335i m-sports) the hatch version weighs in 80kg more than the sedan. So we can knock of I'd guess 50-70kg from the weight of that 130i M-sport so a coupe version would be 1380-1400kg. Now lets look at the weight between the 330i m-sport coupe vs. the 335i m-sport coupe. We have 1545 and 1600 respectfully. So the turbo powerplant adds 55kg putting our 135i m-sport coupe somewhere in the 1435-1455kg range (or about 3200lbs. even). Does that seem wrong? Given the size difference between the 335i and the 135i I fail to see how the 135i could not weigh substantially less than the 335i. |

OK, it's great that so many people are intersted in this topic, but it seems like the correct information that have been presented too often get lost again after a few posts from new members. (BTW, welcome everyone!)
FACT: 135i weight = EU 3439 lbs QUESTION: Does this include fuel and the driver? CONFUSION: Why does UK website uses the term "Unladen (EU)" (much like the term that appears in the US website) to quote basically the same weight as the German website? ANSWER 1: The german website clearly states that the EU weight includes 90% fuel, 68kg driver, and 7kg luggage. Again, these are the same number as the ones in UK website, and very similar to the ones in US website. ANSWER 2: Despite the confusing english terminology, "unladen" weight that appears in US website very likely includes 90% fuel, 68KG driver, and 7kg luggage. |
