HKS SSQV4 not venting in high boost during shifts.

Basically my title says it all.

When I WOT in first gear or second gear and get to max boost at round ~17PSI, the BOV sometimes malfunctions and doesn't give a clean whistle. Sometimes it does, but sometimes it doesn't. Is this normal or is my BOV broken? Probably gonna make a video for diagnosing.

Also is it normal to overboost during shifts? My PSI goes crazy everytime I shift under WOT.

I always keep mine in map 5 where if senses conditions. I'd also be more conservative but that's just me.

Over boosting wont really hurt the turbos but it could hurt the motor. Too much air not enough fuel could do damage.
With your BOV, it sounds like it could be too tight (I dont know if the HKS is adjustable). If there is no adjustment, make sure the boost line going to the BOV isnt kinked, crushed, or has a hole in it.
In my import days, the Super SURGE Quential BOV was junk. The High HP/High Boost guys didnt like them because they leaked and surged. most of the people bought them because they sounded cool..

Overboost increases the pressure in the intake and heads of the engine. The Turbos are meant to handle this pressue but you gaskets are not. You can blow anything from a head gasket to a manifold gasket. Manifold gaskets will cause oil leakage and head gaskets can be worse and can also leaks coolant. if it is bad enough then you are talking about a total engine rebuild. With that said, have the BOV checked to make sure that it is working properly or swap it out with one that is more sensitive. Of course if you dont want that you can always remap the JB4 to a setting that will help you prevent overboost.
