Are you sure they didn't say it was the valve cover gasket? Failure of the valve cover gasket is not entirely uncommon. Failure of the head gasket is rare unless you're running massive boost. Was the smoke coming from the exhaust or from under the hood? Any signs of overheating? Did they find oil in your coolant?

Unfortunately it's the cylinder. I bought this car used so I'm not sure if the boost was turned up prior to my ownership. The odd thing is that my car has no negative effects like overheating and such. As for the smoke it only was coming from the engine bay. I've done some searching and I just can't find anything really concerning the 1 in regards to this issue.

Wow... A lot of great info there Pig Farmer, thanks for the find. At first the dealer said they thought there was a turbo leak of some sort but came to the conclusion of the gasket after running a leak test.
