request- changing Auto shifter "how to"

I want to take out the regular auto shifter and install this new sportier shifter (see pic below).
Can some one tell me how to get the actual shifter nob out before I end up breaking it.
I got the boot insert out with no issue but the shifter is another story...

Pull up. Hard. It's best to have it in D (engine off!), so you don't bust your knuckles on the dashboard.

I bought it from Daniel Miles at United BMW. http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...subcat1=134416

You will need to buy the boot and the lever separately. both are on the enclosed page link.

Cost me $185 (for both parts)
shipping $16

I followed your instructions and was able to get the shifter off with some careful pulling. I was able to put the sport shifter on in a sec. looks good! will post pic in a few.
