Had to say out loud to slow down after seeing 100 mph on the dash while flying down a bumpy one-and-a-half-way backroad this Friday with DSC off. Funnily, that day I was actually headed out to put candles on the family grave.

Could've been quite an ironic day. TALL, DARK AND HANDSOME MAN CRASHES EN ROUTE TO FAMILY GRAVEYARD.

Meanwhile, in my car, I've got black faux leather, and trim wrapped in an eye-searing orange...

I think it suits the car...the 1'er was never a luxury barge

Yeah, I agree...

I'm slumming with my black leather and aluminum.

How boring! I really do like the brushed aluminum, it makes the interior look higher-quality than the wood does, but I like orange more

I like your orange trim. Definitely different.

I don't want to go through the hassle of changing the trim, and tbh, I've grown to like the wood trim over the past years. Walnut wood trim was apparently the least ticked option so that makes it more interesting too.

If you ever get that itch, 3M has a lot of really cool (and surprisingly realistic) wraps. They have a textured brushed aluminum one... it's an easy way to freshen up your car without costing a ton

So, finally broken in and was able to take it out to some of my favorite twisties the other day. All I can say is your concerns about the steering are unfounded. It was precise, with I thought good feedback, especially in Sport+ mode on a challenging road. And even though it seems you don't feel the road quite the way you would with a mechanical system. You'd have to be really nitpicking to find a difference, and only then at low speeds.
Overall very happy. It's just as tossable as the 1, with added precision and power.

Our 'old Ones' presented a canvas not too deficient regards power, quite suited to real-world conditions in the US (more power good every car)

They desperately needing to fix, I mean 'update' the suspension, curing soo many evils, oh, I meant to say compromises...BMW had time and incentive to get it right this time round.

Yours looks the part certainly being better in likely all respects seems to me. You if possible should keep the 1 around long-term though my guess...

"if you like your One, you can keep your One"...I recall it went something like that.

I always thought the steering issue was blown out of proportion. I haven't had the privilege to drive any new M models but I've watched enough reviews to know that it can't be that big of a deal.

Glad you could enjoy such a nice car. Hopefully one day I will be able to say the same!

I haven't driven a new M, but I found the electric steering from Porsche to be a let down, and it's supposed to be the best in the business.

I’ve not driven something like a GT3, but I’ve driven a few of them, and it’s still only shades of less good vs. their hydraulic racks. 987/997 is the newest Porsche sports car I’d likely buy, and I do miss my Cayman, but I wanted a usable backseat. Like BMW, the newer Porsche stuff just feel so buttoned down, large, luxurious and dead feeling, despite being performance monsters.
