newby question

I am considering a 2011 135i with approx. 70k on the odo. Aside from
the normal automotive issues is there anything unusual that I need
to look at on the vehicle prior to purchase?

In advance, thank you.

Really look down the front passenger side of the motor for the oil filter housing gasket leak. Use a flash light too because there isn't a lot of room and the leak isn't always apparent around the top of the housing.

As someone who has a 2011 135i with exactly 70k on the odo, the waterpump, thermostat, ofhg (oil filter housing gasket), chargepipe and expansion tank all needed to be replaced within the last 12 mo / 10k miles. So, if all of those are done I would buy that car. If not, budget appropriately because they will need to be done eventually. You're looking at around 3k for all of the above. Don't let me scare you away though, they're great cars. Enjoy it!

I bought my 2011 with 70k about a year ago. Now it has 86k and the only problems I've had are an angel eye bulb burning out ($40 LED replacement), and the starter cable failing at the crimped-on end ($5 for a new end that I crimped on). jsublime brings up a good point that all those items are common issues, but your experience may vary, just as with any used car.

Is the car you're looking at a manual or dual-clutch?

DCT, and thank you all for the information. I am coming from the
Corvette world, and am very happy to be here.
