Update: I think I have found him.
Alex, there is a PM about to go to you with name, address and telephone number. I'll state my reasons here for why i think this is him once you've had a chance to read and check it all out. |

Anyway, here is how I found him:
1. Alex gave me all the info he had including two disconnected phone numbers, his name, a woman's name who was registered to one of the numbers and 2 email addresses Tony Phung used to communicate with him. 2. I began by simple checking of email addresses and cross-referencing, which brought up nothing 3. I then checked the Komitao forum name through a forum checking technique I have, and was directed here: http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...&page=18&pp=15 This didn't prove anything, but gave me a suspected point of reference. 4. Low and behold, the Komitao there had an email address listed on that site. Then i started to compare his posts on 1Addicts to his posts over at howard forums, and they all matched. The grammar was identical, the use of the emoticon "^^", and the use of 3 full stops was exactly the same as the posts by Komitao on 1Addicts. 5. I then began to cross reference that email address against all the info i had: phone numbers, a reputed address (which existed but was not his), names, forum names, other email addresses. Most results were defunct and did not bring up much information. 6. However, in the results digging very deeply, I found out there was a Tony Phung who is an Agape Chinese Baptist: http://members.shaw.ca/acbcenglish/index.html - i then used this to add to my ever-growing list of information. 7. I stalled a bit here, so decided to go back to square one, the 1Addicts forum. I had a look at some of Komitao's posts, and realised he's very knowledgable in Audio Visual and electronics (see here: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...hlight=komitao). I added this into my list of information to use. 8. I then compiled all the known and guaranteed information i had, so when i started to dig very deep, I would get the most reliable results. 9. So, I checked out Komitao's name and numbers first, matched up against the Chinese Agape Baptist stuff, no avail. I then Whois Net Registry checked the name of Tony Phung to no avail. 10. I did as above, but this time with his Audio/Visual expertise instead of the Chinese Agape Baptist information, relying on the most accurate and guaranteed info I had. 11. And that's when it became clear. There is a Tony Phung in British Columbia who owns an AV store specialising in Car Audio! I then Google Maps'd the address listed to check that it was legitimate. There was his name right above the entry to the store - i even checked to see if there was a 135i in the drive but he must have been out to lunch when the google car went past And that's how to bring down a scammer! Not to dampen what seems to be some good work, but can you really be sure that the A/V-related Tony Phung in B.C. is the same guy?
If you did find a 135i, that would be much more conclusive. Regardless, I hope justice is served! |

There are another number of things which points to him, not just the A/V stuff, including email servers being the same for his payment address and what i've seen as his personal address.

I came recently from a Benz forum (bought a 135i two months ago) and something very similar happened there as well with 4 AMG wheels a couple of years back. Interesting read and quick sleuthing. Great job.
