Stupid question from new 135i owner
So I've been driving her for three days now.....
2011 135i, sport & premium package, DCT, jet black over taupe leather. If I throw the shifter to the left, I invoke the "S" (sport?) gear changes, and see the tach kick up by about 500 rpm. Likewise, if I push the "S" button just aft of the shifter, I see the tach kick up by about the same amount. But it is a cumulative effect (both will boost rpm) and the bloody manual says nothing of particular use. What is the difference, if there is one? Thanks, and I'll try to avoid getting a speeding ticket in the first month. |

Somewhere on here there is a thread with an indepth discussion on this. But in a nutshell when u push the sport button you will shift harder/faster (with gear select in sport and norm D), with the gear select in sport it will keep the car in a more aggressive gear and shift at a higher RPM. When driving the car hard in/out of corners it's probrably smarter than you are for keeping the car in the right gear.
Do a search and read the post about this topic there is some good info there. I'd post the link myself but I'm on a mobile.

Auto mode - regular
Auto sport - sportier(throttle response) M/S mode(to the left) somehow feels the same as auto sport M/S sport - holds the rpm longest on all the gears. The most fun mode to drive and of course you can engage the paddle shifter to gain more control during driving I have had mine for 10 days now and just went over 2000km break-in period. Lots of fun is all I can say.
