Speed, which info from Scott do you think is wrong?
The details where his info differes from yours are: - 335i: 3.5L I6 NA vs. 3.0L I6 twin turbo - the introdustion of new engines in a 3er sedans: MY 2007 (September 2006) vs. MY 2008 (early 2007). - a 330i sedan status: being replaced with 335i vs. staying in the market. - production start of 3er coupe: June '06 vs. April '06. So, 335i sedan MY 2007 with 3.5L I6 NA DI(?) engine - SOP September '06 will replace 330i sedan MY 2006 - according to your info.
And, 3er coupe (SOP June '06) will debute as MY 2007 328Ci (I6 DI engine; 3.0L or 2.5L?) and 335Ci (3.5L I6 NA DI(?) engine) - according to your info. Right? |

I just wanted to bring this quote over to this thread. In the thread where a guy is trying to decide between a new 330i or a used C32 AMG, a C32 owner said this:
Quote:
BMW performance and handling with more HP than everyone else? That's a no brainer. That's what the 335 represents. |

They do have limitations, you know....like cost, demand, etc. It seems like its going to happen, but its not like they had any problems selling the 3 Series because of horsepower. We all know the biggest seller is the 325. Also, the C32 is an AMG car & competes directly with an M3, not a regular 3 Series. |

I agree BMW could have done this to start with...I have no idea why they didn't. Seems to me like they realized their mistake and are making the necessary changes. Or maybe like others have said, they're just releasing a new version to further increase sales? All I know is that upping the HP is a must. |

Don't forget that BMW HAS increased the Hp upon release of the e90. Competition responded, BMW is responding in a way that does not render their lin-up obsolete and they can charge a premium for it -good marketing folks. |

I suggest Speedfreak and Tine lay down a bet.
Whom ever turns out to be wrong must leave E90Post forever Just kidding. I'd be really surprised to see the 330 replaced with the 335. The 330 was a good value compared to the previous E46. A similarly priced 335 would be unbelieveable. I don't see BMW doing this, especially so early in its life cycle. Its not like its not selling. I'm more inclined to think it will be slotted in between the 330 and next M3. I'd also be surprised to see a new 3.5 NA engine and not a turboed 3.0L. |

My latest info is that Speed may be right.
Quote: "Your friend might know more than he lets on. Because this subject is very much in discussion. I am keeping close to the ground , however i have found that the Turbo will be Europe and Asia only , The Turbo will not fit in with BMW's image in the Image concious BMW market in the USA So they will get a NA detuned version while we get the turbo. There is also the marketing point of view for Europe - BMW can associate turbo technology with their diesel models ( remeber US diesel market for BMW is non existent) which builds a bridge to the petrol turbo introduction. Europe will also see in 2005 the introduction of the 335d , With the 335's think of the M3 E36 , The european model was more powerful than the US model. If the E92 spy pic makes it to the media , then launch could be brought forward - Witness the E90 leak - official release came right after , Particularly when E46 stocks were still available. The E93 will get a press release in the Summer of 2006 prior to World Premiere at the Paris Motor show in September , The X5 is also expected to debut there as well as the new MINI." Sorry for inconvenience. So, the only dignified move from my now is to leave this forum forever. Totally discredited. Bye. |

Come now, Tine... don't be so harsh on yourself. I, for one, would like to see you stick around. You stood by your source. I respect you for that. Please reconsider. I think the community is better as a result of your involvement. I'm serious. |

Hey... BTW... to further substantiate our position... BMW FS just (11-17) announced a new Lease Special for 24 months... Hmmm... why do you think they chose 24 months? History will support that a lease special like this precedes a change of some kind that BMW FS knows will impact future car values. The following cars are included in the special:
325i changing to the 328i in MY07 (Sept'06 production) 525i changing to the 528i in MY07 (Sept'06 production) X3 changing to the new motor in MY07 (Sept'06 production) X5 complete change in MY07 (Sept'06 production) The 330/530/X5 4.4 are limited enough in their production that they don't need a supported program like the entry level (more mass produced) cars do in order to insure that there is no back log of inventory. |

Scott is partly to blame for some of the misleading info. And its really a lot of guesswork anyway. Nobody here is actually responsible for signing on the dotted line, so to speak. |

Again, if we get a 335 priced near a 330, that would be an unbelievable deal and is exactly what I would be opting for. |

Upon further examination of Scott's quote, what engine will the US get a detuned version of? For him to use to word detuned, wouldn't there have to be a larger engine? (i.e, the current 325 is a detuned 330 engine) |
