spends hours washing waxing car...no one notices
You know the problem with a nice white car?
No one notices how hard you work on waxing it! When i had my 2003 VW Jetta in Tornado Red...when i waxed her every quarter it was visible from SPACE! And everyone was like WOW! This white one..... |

with that being said, white is very hard to pull depth out of the paint |

Only elderly people have complimented my car after a good detail on my car. Doesn't bother me though. As long as a smile is on my face in my paints reflection I'm happy!

IMO, a good sealant does wonders for gloss- much more than any wax, which should be thought of as paint protection only. Any enhanced gloss you get from wax is just the fillers in the wax (should it have them) filling in the light scratches in the paint. |

yeah yeah yeah....clay bared the car, it was very smooth even though she's a 2009 with almost 50k miles on her. The big area that pissed me off and could not do much with was the side skirts...wooh that tar is on there good! This car should have been rocking mud flaps from day one!
two coats on the hood and the front quarters. maybe it's the wax...maybe i should have zainoed the thing instead. You know what would make this car stand out better...if it had a pin stripe or something....the paint is ok and it's deep and clean it just has no contrast. The Tornado red had the world to bounce off of...the white......just not working as well as i thought it would |

You're worrying too much about what other people think... As long as you're happy, that should be enough, huh?

Perfect example:
I wash my MKIV GTI in Reflex Silver with a nice foam bath, my neighbours would stop when they drive by and yell out "keep up the good work" A couple days later, same time, I give the 1er a foam bath. No one stopped. No one has ever stopped to compliment.

ok that was a good one! I think maybe if it were a pearl white instead of snow white it would show a little better. Yeah the car looks better....at night than it does in the day? So good that when i left the gym at 9pm my car was being dry humped by god knows how many bugs! They thougth it was some sort of light.....very very odd... |

Sealant works on the gloss aspect, wax works on the depth. Use both and get the best of both worlds. |

If that can make you happy, my wife does not even realize when I detail HER car (solid black, the biggest pain to maintain), the only time she noticed was after I clayed it and waxed it, someone was looking closely at the car and asking her questions about what she used in order to have the car that nice and shiny
My white 128i looks really good after a layer of Meguiars Techwax 2.0, It looks pretty good every time I hand wash it with Meguiars Ultimate wax and wash (the yellow one). I am sure there are MUCH better products out there (swissvax, Zaino) but with 2 young kids, i haven't got the time to try them out, I am happy if I manage to wax the car twice a year...

creating "contrast" on your vehicle...

Perhaps its more to do with contrast? Watch this video IF you haven't already... Also - there are some waxes that seem to work better with certain colors. I would ask an expert for which product they would think work best on your AW car.

Remember, a wax or sealant is only as good as the prep you made to the paint underneath. However, I know Meguiar's makes a specific wax for white cars. I've never tried it - anyone else try it? It might be worth a try.

The white wax has some cleaner in it that helps to make the white nicer.

Wolfgang, as well as Chemical Guys Jet Seal 109 are expensive, but top of the line sealants.
I use Wolfgang topped with Dodo Juice Hard Candy and Rainforest Rub. |

I constantly get compliments when I wax him. I've attached an example on a white 135i!
