I win -- 71. Wanted one last stick - dealer found a 2013 6 speed 135is, space gray, coral red - virtually every option incl. carbon fiber mirror caps. Was close to getting new Stingray but not quite to my taste. Briefly considered a 911 (had a '92) - great car but no decent local dealer and pretty pricey IMO. 135is is fun an close to invisible.

Evo UK had a similar response to the Cayman in their car of the year IIRC. Doesn't have to, but nearly always does.

I just turned 45 last week. I have had sporty cars my whole life - Datsun 200SX, Nissan 300ZX, Mazda Speed 3, Chevy Z24... I have always wanted a BMW and when I got divorced finally decided to do it. I bought a 2011 328i - loved the car, but it didn't have near the power I was wanting, even with the performance modifications I added to it.
I traded my 328 for my 2013 135is in October of this year and love it - I definitely made the right choice. I got laid off in November, so hopefully I get to keep it for a little while longer anyway - LOL.

I just turned 50 about a month ago. My 135i is my 3rd car so it mainly gets driven on the weekends. I've had a number of performance/sports cars over the years and the 135i is one of the best all round performance cars I've owned (especially as it is currently modded).

27, bought my CPO 135i just two months ago, could not afford a new 135i and ended up buying used.
with 34k on the clock, dealer just put in a new engine due to a blockage (car was spewing coolant when driven hard) car seems to idle better, used to be rough when sitting in lights, and a new engine never hurts! Overall, love the car, I'll be keeping her past the 100k mile warranty! |

43 - first BMW - four months old. Was looking for a new car over the summer and found a good deal on a CPO 2011 135i and couldn't pass it up. The 1 series was always a dream car of mine but thought I could never afford one (at least a new one) until I found this one.

23 years young, I have many cars in my short time of driving, last few cars were an E90 325i, 78 Datsun 280z and now the 135i all in the past year. I love the 135i and plan on keeping it for awhile which is longer than a year for me

I like this thread. Very surprised about the age variation. I had the 1er wrongly pegged. Happy to be wrong based on this small sample.

25 and counting. Helped my dad pick out his first BMW (e90) in '08 and saw the first 1ers roll in. I've had my eye on it ever since. When it came time to say goodbye to my '94 Saab (talk about maintenance) I knew that I needed to buy a stick before they went the way of the dinosaurs. BMW was the best drive, bar none.

I'm 38. Live in the outskirts of NYC. My 135is is my daily driver. It is my 2nd 1er, the first floated away last year but my 3rd BMW. My commute is 1 mile each way. My two kids call my 1er the beast and the wife loves the burbles he makes. What a rocket ship... grrrr!

Yeah--I really like this thread, and am pleased with the wide age differences. Maybe it is best said that the 1er appeals to people who simply like to drive, and can feel the difference between good and not-so-good.

Interesting thread - so much input in a just a few days! Passionate people around here too!
Almost 52 ;-). Had many interesting used BMW cars before. Most noticeable are 2001 E46/M3, and 2002 E39/M5. Went to hibernation and more modest car for a couple of years (5 to be exact), as wife and I settled into a nice house. My wife has all sorts of health issues, including a couple of mis-carriages. I supported her the best I could, and this was also tough financially. Fast forward to this summer. I decided to spoil myself, even if it meant pulling money in my retirement fund. Wife approved it too. You only live once, and I may not be here tomorrow, or be healthy enough to enjoy a sports coupe and lapping when I get older (I have a bad back). I bought my used 2011 135i 6 months ago. Brought her to the track late this summer, and got hooked to lapping. Got to push her hard at the local airport track on a weekly basis, and upgraded to some M3 bits, Cobb tune, camber plates, sticky tires, and other various components to make her more track-worthy. Far from done with the mods. Bridgestone RE-11 tires are almost done after 5000 Miles. Cant believe the low-end torque and the sound of the engine in this car. Love every minute, and have to constantly fight with myself to not break the speed limits, and drive like an asshole around town. I DIY everything I can on the car, just for the fealing of accomplishment, and because I get to save money for the next mods. I dont take her out of the garage when the roads are nasty (winter time in Quebec Canada). Can wait for spring to put the summer shoes back on, aggressive Cobb tune, and hit the track!!!
