The 1 is designed for drivers who relish FUN behind the wheel!!! People who drive the 1-Series clearly value driving fun and performance!
The 135i excels at being a speed demon while staying in control. Small, powerful and responsive, it delivers a thrilling, exciting ride! Ideal for someone (me) who focuses on the journey between point A and point B, this car makes you consider going to point C just to make the trip longer. I find myself taking the long way to places just to be able to spend more time behind the wheel. Just my 2 cents...

Oh yeah, my wife drives a 335i (so I can make a 'fair' comparison), and I would drive my 1er everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. I am done

Amen. Reading comprehension is a must!

The fact that I cannot get .9% financing has halted my attempts to secure an 09 at this point. I am holding onto my STI for the time being and replacing the stereo and seats. The best rate I could get was 4.9% and that is still more than my current loan. If they dropped it to .9% I would put in my order tomorrow

To keep things simple lets say you buy both the 1 and the 3 for 38k. The 3 with .9% will cost $634 a month for 5 years nothing down. The 1 (assuming 5% interest rate) will cost you $717 a month. Thats a difference of close to $5,000 over the life of the loan. So is the 1 really worth $5000 more than the 3?

Now unless your credit is under 700 or you can't earn more than .9% at the bank why would anyone purchase a 1 series?

Anyone have any clue when bmw might offer .9% for the 1? I'm sure not paying $5000 more for the car.
You're obviously not getting an equally equipped vehicle!! The 3 series costs more money, so if the 1 and the 3 are the same price, you are getting less options on the 3.

This is something my dad was telling me when I was looking at getting a new 135. There were 3s in the dealership offered at better rates and even a discount on them. I didnt even look at the 3s, I wanted a 135.

Then I saw an 05 E46 ZHP at my local dealer and snatched it up for $10,000 or so less than the new 135, plus the BMWFS incentives. Is a 3 year old car the better deal? This was the car that first got me to like BMW, and I love it. It even came with an oil dip stick! =P

I still think Imola Red was the best color ever produced by BMW. That blood red was gorgeous in person and the ZHP package was so very, very nice. The e46 is also still one of the best body styles ever produced as well. It is an excellent choice!

Bubbly is already ready. I'm with MBrunner once they have .9% on the 1 I'm heading right on over to the dealership.

To answer other questions I'm not trying to get people to buy the 3 just showing it as a comparison.

Andrean8j: The basic loan is the same, BMW offers .9% financing for 5 years (60 months) that is amortized (which means that at the end of the 60 months you'll owe nothing). Anytime you can borrow money and invest it at a higher rate, you'll earn whats known as a spread (the difference between what you pay and what you make). In this case if you financed the full amount and put an equal amount and earned anything greater than .9% you'll be better off than being "responsible" and paying cash for the car. Mastamind would be much better off if he understood this.

Please dont' respond with "but inflation" You already purchased the car, again inflation by definition is "the increase in price of FUTURE goods"

Just a note, right now .9% can be had on the 3, 5, X5. The 3 coupe and 6 series are both offered at 1.9%. The M3 and M5 have offers at 3.9%. All are cheaper to finance than the 1.

I speculate the reason why we don't have .9% on the 1 for 09s are those damn 08 convertibles(They're everywhere). So those people out there that want a convertible, go out and get one BELOW COST. Those cars are costing them money on the lots. (Dealers need to make interst payments from the loans they took out to purchase the cars). The faster those things go and the less people that buy 09 1 series the more pressure they'll be be for .9% financing.

Happy New Years Everyone and may .9% financing come to the 1 soon!!

Ditto!!!

May '09 bring better rates, better deals, and even a BMWCAA rebate on the 1.

I've been holding out for Le Mans Blue, the 123d M Sport, and better rates. My patience has been partially rewarded now that Le Mans Blue is finally available in the U.S. I'm not holding my breath on the 123d, but I wouldn't be surprised if better rates are eventually available on the 1. I guess I'll just wait for better rates on a Le Mans 135i and be happy with 2 out 3.

In meantime I'll put my money elsewhere. I don't mind waiting for what I want, since the 1 will be my weekend ride. As Chapalan has mentioned a 3 is a very good deal right now (and a great car, too), but unfortunately it's just not the car that I want.

Just remember, Jan 3 brings new rates. 0.9 or 1.9 and my order goes in as well. I think I can wait till Feb rates at most, after that I'm going to have to swallow my pride (and my wallet) and put down a lot more cash or get the PenFed rate.

Hey guys! I recently test drove the 335 and the 135 back to back and I'll have to say I like the 135 much more!

335i's seem to be almost in short-selling right now! I can't drive something everyone and their mother also drives though...

I'm an engineer by profession and an avid day trader by hobby. I'll end up using pentagon fed credit union to finance the ride at 4.75% w/ my trade-in. I easily beat 4.75% in return on the 20grand i'll play with in todays market! Options trading right now is amazing. Doesn't matter where the market is moving as long as its going somewhere and you have a feel for the direction!

Thank you Apple for going up $5 on Friday!

I drive a 335i coupe and the more I see 1's on the road (which are far & few) I am really loving the styling of the car. I can see why you guys are loving your 1's so much. I only pulled the trigger on my car back in July because of the 0.9% deal that started back then (when the economy started to slump). My local dealer had to dealer trade the car in from Miami (I only wanted AW/CR). I would love to do a comparisson drive on a 135 vs. 335.
