anyone else hear a popping noise coming from the dash? When I have my A/C running for about a minute I hear one or two loud pops from the dash. Any ideas?

Could be the flaps for opening/closing fresh air moving. I get the same pops in my old merc.

With any luck I'll be in a position to run the A/C tomorrow, and, with continued luck, no popping sounds will be present. Seems the 1-Series is making many myriad, sometimes annoying, puzzling sounds.

I have that same sound since the moment I bought the car. I'll try and drive with the AC off to see if it stops. Glad to see I'm not the only one.:iono:

Expansion/contraction of the plastic in the ductwork or surrounding areas, due to quick change in temperature?

I also have this problem, which I described as a thump in an earlier thread - "Odd thump from my dash...". Your description of it as a pop is probably more accurate. It is quite loud and surprising - like a stone hit from a passing truck. Still only speculation as to its cause.

Damn I thought you were gonna talk about a pop when you hit a sizable bump....sounds like something in the dash is loose...only on the passengers side though
