They are great! I had it shipped to me in under a week. Call and ask for Rob at UUC 678-679-5360 ext 5364 he'll set you up. Mention that you heard about the shifter from me, maybe he'll give you a deal like I did. I put in USSE90-1 for the E9x 330i and if you check realoem.com they have the same part numbers as our shifter does. I'm also running their RK6A-L shift knob. By far the best shift knob and WAY better than any stock BMW one. It adds some good weight to the shifter making throws lighting accurate. Hope this helps. PM me if you need to know more. BTW intall is dead easy too |

Got my ssk installed yesterday. Did most of it by myself but had to take it to a local shop to help me get the car in the air to pull of a little clip, instructions said it could all be done from within the cabin but it was impossible. All in all, its a great bit of kit!!!!!!!

If anyone is looking for a SSK for their 128i, I've got a group buy going with Turner Motorsports:

Yup, its an old thread. I just had the BMW SSK installed on my 2009 128. Big improvement. My local BMW dealer (they're awful), who I bought the kit from, quoted me 3-4 hours. I told them I thought they were quoting a 135 install, and they said they'd get back to me. They never did, so I brought it up to my local import shop. He did it in just over an hour. I was going to do it myself, but without a lift its tough to get that 128 off the groung. Jack points are small and look a little scary, and my ramps were too steep.
Anyway, great improvement. |

It sure is. Its the best mod you can do to this car at the moment. I love having close/ short ratio shifts. Makes me miss my s2000 which had one of the best gear boxes ever built.

Just had mine installed today. It is very nice. A little under 2 hours of time, so about $208 plus the cost of the kit (Which I bought from www.getbmwparts.com)
Definitely worthwhile, probably should be the first mod! FYI, I sold the shift knob and boot from the kit and am using the perforated leather ///M bits... |

Perf SSK parts needed:
You can buy the complete BMW performance SSK that also comes with a short new knob and alcantra boot/bag. Or... you can buy the parts sepperately to save some money. The Perf SSK sells for 280 euros vs the bellow parts for 184 euros. 25110434218 schaltarm/shift arm - 121 euros 25110434217 schalthebel/shift arm-lever - 55 euros 25111220600 lager schalthebel/plastic bearing for lever - 7 euros 25117571899 scherungsclip/safety clips (two needed) - 1 euros My car also needed new exhaust down-pipe gaskets: 18307553603 dichtung/exh gaskets ( two needed) - 19 euros for two. total cost: 203 euros + 89 euros (one hour's) labor for the install = 292 euros IF you wanted to do a SSK on a real budget... I guess you could just do the shift lever and a new bushing from the above kit: 25110434217 schalthebel/shift arm-lever - 55 euros 25111220600 lager schalthebel/plastic bearing for lever - 7 euros But... the BMW SSK is such a great designed package... I would highly suggest you spend the extra bucks on the entire kit I listed above. The shift lever is soooo nice and tight. The shifting effort is slightly higher... but that is to be expected. I have NO TROUBLE engaging gears. Not even reverse like with some SS kits. And the shift pattern is still in the same arrangement and plane. Nothing has changed, just that you don't have to move the shifter as far back and fourth to change gears. I would rate this FIVE out of FIVE stars for a fun mod! Its really a fantastic mod! Right up there with the CDV delete mod! Dackel Here is the BMW's tech doc on the Perf SSK... Attachment 515482 Attachment 515483 Last edited by Dackelone; 04-29-2011 at 04:04 PM.. |

Btw... The SSK for the 128i is: 25110444655 the list price on RealOEM is $300.
I looked on RealOEM and the Perf SSK for the 128i is NOT the same as the 135i (N54)kit. The 128i kit only needs the shifter rod and bushing and maybe some extra C-clips. IF you don't want the shorter shift knob or alcantera bag you could just order the bellow parts (I believe!?). shifter lever #25117542200 $72 c-clips (you need two) #25111220379 $1 each shifter lever bushing #25111220600 $10 Dackel |
