When you say bushings is that what I'd refer to as a slider? You aren't incorrect just wondering if it's the same part.

So - maybe the caliper was flexing / shifting after all?

I am referring to the rubber bushings in which the guiding pins slide into. if that's what you call sliders then yea

yes i think it is possible that with old bushings and the retaining clip the caliper was flexing too much. that's the theory anyway
