High gloss black trim

It appears I should've wiped it with a rag before the pic but here you go. I think it looks just like the bsm exterior color. I expected it to be piano black when I ordered it.

Yeah I heard about the "purple sparkles" and I hoped it was just bs, i really like piano black, I wonder why bmw doesn't just deliver the goods. My car is on order, black saphire/lemon/gloss black and i'm thinking of bailing out altogether for now, maybe there'll be some more colors in 09'.
If it really looks bad you could always replace it, I heard the brushed aluminum looks good. As im sure you know theres carbon fiber trim too but thats really not my cup of tea personally.

I was originally going too go with your exact color combo, looks good bro, rockstar combo. Maybe after time there'll be piano black aftermarket pieces, still sucks to have to pay for it though. I might take the car I ordered though, come to think of it what other choices are there, the walnut burl is ok if youre into wood and the aluminum isn't something to jump up and down about. maybe aftermarket is the only way to go. Damn I talk about trim like girls talk about shoes lol! Oh well, i still think a sexy car will get you laid so its smart thinking:biggrin:

Actually, the gloss black is not bad - you only see the sparkles in direct sun. I still can't figure why they didn't do piano black. Oh well.:iono:

Yea, but I don't feel like tearing the interior apart to get them out and back in. It's not that bad.

i've a black on black as well & that's why i decided on grey poplar. its dark enough with it's slight brown hues to break up the black. no sparkles, no repeating aluminum accents, just clean real wood.

Piano Black is reserved for the Individual Program. When I had my 545i I priced out the parts for Piano Black if I was to order them and it is very expensive. Obviously a 5 series has quite a bit more trim but total cost was approaching $1600 if I remember. I couldn't order them anyway as you need a VIN number from an Individual car to order Individual Program specific parts. Piano Black as I was told is also real wood and not just plastic.

I don't know if they are going to offer the 1 series in the Individual Program. But I don't think it will matter if they do. Like I was told when I had the 5 series, parts that are specific to the Individual Program like Piano Black trim can not be ordered unless you have a VIN# from an Individual Car.

Currently in the US the Individual Program is only being offered on the 7 and 6 series. That also only started recently.

Ya know I have seen the high gloss black on several occasions, loved it and ordered it. Not once did I see any sparkle in it, even in sunlight. The first time I saw it sparkle was in a photo with flash taken about 6 inches from it similar to the one posted here. It showed some sparkle right where the flash lit up. My advice is...go look at it. It looks totally black unless you snap a photo a few inches from it. Don't let this photo sway you. Go look at it in person.

p.s. The Grey Boston Leather looks blue in the photo on the BMW website builder. It's not. No hint of blue whatsoever. Another example of ...GO LOOK. Pictures mileage may vary.

Gloss black and coral looks great.

Honestly, you don't see the sparkles in person unless it's in direct sunlight. It's always exacerbated by the camera's flash.

I saw the gray poplar in person and hated it. Wood just not fit the feel of this car for me. Which left me with the black gloss and the aluminum. I thought the black gloss would be too much black with the black leather, so I went for the aluminum. I know it's got a weird patter on it, but it was the only option I had which wasn't wood and offered a little bit of contrast.

Maybe you could make a phone call or two to your local dealers and get some info?

Garage List
Confirming what's already been said.........You don't know that there are "sparkles" in the gloss black unless you're really looking for them, and only in DIRECT sunlight.

Here is a photo with no flash and not in direct sunlight...........

check out the gloss black in person and you'll see...

it sparkles like a disco ball in a sea of flood lamps.
my girlfriend called it a glitter factory.

but hey, some people like fairy dust.

just not my thing. i'd rather kill a tree and have it displayed on my dash.

like a bear head on my wall. fresh from the hunt.

Am I the only one who is actually glad that the Gloss black trim has some metal flake in it? :iono:
I got the BSM / Coral combo, and LOVE how the gloss black trim matches the BSM exterior paint almost perfectly.
If I had jet black exterior,..I might not be as thrilled though.
Guess I would say if you get BSM,..then it's great.
Prob would look good w/ most metallic colors as well. The "sparkles" arent that noticeable unless the sun is directly on them.

I figure the Glacier Aluminum is similar to what I have in my ZHP already, which I like. Plus it breaks up all that black and matches the door handles. I think it completes the car, although I do like the Poplar.
