I am getting the Navigation system in my 135i. Do I still need LOJACK? Can't the BMW Assist track the GPS of the car? If I do need LOJACK, what would a fair price be?

From what i've read on different forums, BMW assist can do that, but its not fool proof. I'd get lojack ALSO.

On a convertible, do you need comfort access to allow you to put the roof down with the key when standing outside the car, or can you do it without the comfort access?

What is the deal with "Priority One" options such as terracotta or lemon leather for the 1er? I saw the wholesale price list posted above for 2009, but how would I get a 1er with one of these options? They aren't listed on the BMW website.

I was wondering if it was possible to lease a car and pay for the lease payments up front minus any interest that would have been added over the term of the lease.

For example, say my lease payment for 36 months is going to be $600 a month with $150 of that being interest. Could I pay $450 X 36 at the time of signing the lease and avoid paying interest for 3 years?

I know this isn't a good idea because if the car gets totaled or stolen, I will lose most of the money that I put into the car. I'm just trying to explore my options and see if I can avoid paying interest if I don't have to.

Hmmm. Buy the car and plunk down the cash upfront and have less principle on which they calculate interest.

or

Determine the interest rate for the lease and see if you can match or better it in the market for a similar term.

Just noticed the forum, I am not a dealer

not through bmw, you'll still pay the interest. I doubt any bank would lease a car interest free

Please correct me if I'm wrong but if you are paying for everything up front, why would be you paying interest? The way I understand the lease payments is that it is comprised of depreciation and interest. If I were to pay all the depreciation at the time of signing the lease, why would I have to pay interest? It's like using cap cost reduction to buy down your payment all the way to $0. :iono: Right?

Yes, true, but then where would the financial department make any money?? It's the same as doing 0% financing on a car. Not likely to happen. The financial division has to make some money to pay the bills.

Please note that in a lease, the is no "interest". Leases have a "money factor". You are promising a steady stream of payments in return for using the vehicle.

Does the financial division make money if I pay for a car in cash? I would be paying for 3 years of depreciation in market value on the car. It would be the same as if I paid cash for the car then traded it in after 3 years with guaranteed trade in value. I don't really see any difference.

It's not really the same. In your situation, BMW financial is providing a lease, but makes no money on it. In the cash scenario, BMW financial is not even involved, and they provide no service at all. It's just you and the dealer.

Sorry if I seem like I am being combative. I'm just trying to understand which options will work best for me. I was really thinking about leasing but it doesn't seem all that attractive anymore. I think the only way to avoid paying interest is to just pay for the car in cash.

Doesn't seem combative to me at all. In reality, paying for the car with cash is the ONLY way to avoid interest. Leasing makes sense for some people for tax purposes or due to their desire to frequently get a new car. I am leasing my current 3 series - got a good rate, can deduct a bit more on my taxes due to my situation. For my future 1er, will likely finance due to the poor leasing rates available.

PS - sorry to Dave for hijacking your thread. Sorry. "Now back to your regular programming"
