Dipped my wheels and grill

Well I've wanted to paint my wheels for awhile now, but I just couldn't swallow the $500-600 for powder coating. So my room mate who's on e90post showed me this stuff http://www.dipyourcar.com. It works amazing. Very easy to apply and you can peel it off if you want to change it up or perform some touch up action. On that site the guy has a lot of videos on how to use it and what you can use it on.

I used it on the kidney grills and wheels. For the grill I just did the completely mat back finish and on the wheels, on the last coat, I did a very light coat of their Glossifier which gave it a hint of a satin finish. The more coats of the Glossifier, the shinier or wetter it looks. Let me know if anyone has any questions. Oh and btw, all the supplies for this cost me about 40 bucks lol.

This was the hardest part was getting the car up on freakin jack stands luckily I have a custom hitch behind the bumper that I was able to use to jack the rear up.

I used index cards to keep the paint off the tire... not a necessary setup as the Plastidip will just peel right off the tire when it dries... I just didn't want the clean up. Also, taped up the "M" emblem on all the wheels.

Now I'm part of the black wheel club lol. The car looks completely different now... soooo much more aggressive!

Looks good, did you sand anything down to prep the surface? Or did you just spray it on?

Just cleaned with a muti-purpose cleaner/degreaser. It's made to not harm the finish underneath, so when/if you peel it off the original surface is unharmed. You could even get the clear color one and spray it on the car itself if you wanted a temporary clear bra for travel or what not.

I'm curious as well. On that website he said it should last 1yr+ without having to retouch it. I've read a lot of guys who use it on their wheels for the winter and it survives all winter. So only time will tell I guess.

Nice! Did mine a month or so as well! Mines held up great so far! And for the 24$ it cost me you really can't go wrong!

Also I've thought about doing my rear diffuser, another idea for you! If you don't like it, just peel it off!

Do it! I fully plan on doing rear diffuser, and I'd like to wrap my roof in CF one day soon.
My buddy did his whole car matte charcoal with stuff from Dipyourcar.com actually. Turned out neat, but he pulled it off yesterday. Going back with matte white.

I had this done on my rims for my ralliart. I didnt use glossifier, just the actual dip... after about 3 months I had some issues with peeling, but considering supplies were so cheap and i had a lot left over all it took was a 2min touch up... All around its exactly what I wanted, but I probably wouldnt do it again just because maintaining it (especially in the winter) got a little annoying because i am very OCD with my car haha I dont really know about the glossifier stuff so hopefully that helps it stay on better!
