Aug 2011 build, got the recall when I checked at the dealer. Scheduled service call in Oct. Looks like a lot of work to replace one cable, ripping the dash board apart

wow that was quick! my dealer normally has about a 10 day wait for service with a loaner... I haven't noticed any issues at all. i still have the same occassional crack from the dash area.

Yeah, I was quite surprised how quick they were able to get me in and I ended up getting an ActiveHybrid 3 as a loaner. Talk about a different driving experience.

More trouble shooting with a voltmeter today. Turns out it was a blown inline fuse for the radar hardware kit. Replaced it. Blew again. Not sure why, at this point, but that's two fuses blown since the battery cable was replaced. Best guess is that they bungled the cable while in there, and now it' shorting out on itself where it likely got squashed when they put all the panels back.

The add a circuit fuse doesn't blow, and the detector still works fine off the cig adapter.

Got mine in early this morning and it was done by early afternoon. Service writer called it a 1M and the tag on the key when I got it back said "Orange M135". My loaner was an X1 that was apparently last loaned to a heavy smoker. Yuk! Gagged me.

Ah, the dealer experience. A least the car seems just fine.

I always say, the more complicated a repair, the bigger the chance that something else will get broken while you do it.
Sooooo, I brought the car in and got the recall done 3 days ago. Even though I never received the letter and I am the original owner of the car. Dealer kept calling and I did it. Was not too keen but don't want to risk the car catching fire.

Guess what happened?

The red passenger restraint warning light came on. Not right away, but within a few days and less than 100km since the fix. Something about the seat belt pre-tensioner, airbag or something not working properly.

I know I have to bring it back. Any ideas? Some connection to the airbag?

Thanks

This very same thing happened to me, but light fixed itself in a couple days. Never really figured out a cause. Good luck!

Interesting. Hopefully this is not the beginning of electronic gremlins.

Do you have any issue since? How long has it been?

Thanks.

For what it's worth, my car seems fine after the service.

Update:

Today is the first time I drove the car after the warning light came on a few days ago. Intention is to go to the dealer for them to look at it.

Guess what? Light never came on. Just like what blotto649 said. Seemed to have fixed itself for now.

Hopefully, it will never come back and nothing else will come up. I do not drive it often, so it could take a long time for things to get discovered.

Mine was done yesterday in couple of hours, no dashboard trims taken off like it showed in the pictures in the earlier posts.
