Very good question i've been asking myself the same everyday. They might be going with the roadster strategy, ie. design the car ground up as a convertable and achieve adequate performance and stiffness, and then desin the coupe afterwards, making it that much more of a superior car, instead of making the cabrio a weakened version of a coupe. THis is a guess of course, but its not unheard of.
