Bilstein B6 is a Sport shock. B4 is OEM replacement. They ride a bit stiff/ harsh if compared to the old FSDs I had on my 335. Really depends on your priority...ride or handling. And I don't know if you are gonna find any deals on the Special Actives right now....maybe Black Friday?

Even FCPEuro and Amazon are pricey.
Always look at the manufacturer website.

Now I'm thinking of getting Billy B4 OEM style replacements.

Too many choices.

So, an interesting turn of events.

Over the weekend I swapped over to my winter tires that are not run-flat.

The right is ever so much smoother. But the shocks still need to go.

So it's down to Billy B4 or B6.

I'm not planning on lowering the car or any other handling modifications.

Anyone here used either of these and can give a pro vs con on them?

I've recently switched to the B4 Sports on my 135i and they perform exactly how I expected them to.

I wasn't looking to upgrade my suspension components and wanted to just replace the shocks & struts as they were getting very old & tired. I also wanted to re-use my existing M-Sport springs so the B4 Sports made a lot of sense to me.

They ride exactly like how I remember the car to drive when it was new...

TL;DR... no downgrade or upgrade in performance compared to OEM setup.

My local has decided that he doesn't want to deal with "steering angle sensors" and whatnot and doesn't want to do the swap.

I tried telling him that my car doesn't have that stuff, but he then went into not wanting to buy special tools.

The search continues.

That sucks...

What did you decide on for your new setup?

I'm going with B4. I would love B6, but this is really my DD and I don't want to start modifying things as it leads to a rabbit hole.

Besides, I already have 2 project cars and am trying to get that down to 1.

I'm sure I'll love the B4s as 124k on the current setup that's leaking can't be close to optimal.

Just hope nothing is damaged. I did find a place that'll do it for me, but just a few more miles outside of town.

One doesn't realize how bad bad is until you replace them with good.

Went with the B4s and while it's not quite night and day, it's a vast improvement.

I'm able to manage corners with a much higher degree of confidence than before.

Glad you enjoy them. I'm loving my B4's.

I had B4s in my S80 V8. Got about 45k out of them. Konis on my Porsches and BMWs last much longer. Plus the Koni sports are adjustable. I have them in the middle on the 128i and am happy with the ride on the street and on the track with aggressive street tires.

I would go with Koni sports over B4s if they are not that much more $$

I have Koni sports on my 940 turbo and really enjoy them. Very stout handling when paired with IPD sport springs and swaybars.
