advice before I sell this thing
Hey all
background: 2008 n54 auto , 93,000kms pulled up to BP on Thursday night to fill up and car had a really weird bump on idol started feeling like the car was choking at low rpm and check engine light comes on drove it to the mechanics and booked it in the next day. outcome so far: mechs replaced plugs and coils, error code reading as misfire cyl 6 HE thinks it's an injector but there was no residue on the plugs (so not leaking) he ran an injector cleaner through it and hasn't solved the issue. qouted $1000 for a single injector. car runs rough on low rpm but is alot smoother on high rpms what's everyone's thoughts on what it could be, planning on doing a diy injector check and switch (coding via app) could it be vanos or maf ? |

I've had the same issue 3 times (2009 model) and had a leaky injector being the issue. After taking them out they all looked the same as one another. The '08 models were renown for it as they had a very early batch of the injectors and even had a recall from memory, or they did at least in the states, I'm surprised yours have lasted this long.
Injector model versions I've had fail -05, -07 and a -10 from memory. Each time I've replaced all 3 in the bank which you're suppose to and I did them myself so I was just looking at about $200-300 USD each back then. They are $227 USD right now: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...h/13538616079/ For one that'd that'd be under $300 USD / ~ $470 AUD delivered + labour + programming ecu for the new values. I'd hate to know what the local cost of a single injector is over here, or did your mechanic say the $1k was just for the injector?
