Okay, I can confirm my car does this too. I actually paid attention yesterday on track, at CMP. In the heavy braking zones I had to double pump the gas pedal with my heel to get it to rev match. It didn't do it in all braking zones.

I think I've subconsciously dealt with this at every track day just thinking that I hadn't fully depressed the gas pedal with my heel so I tended to just hit it again until the revs increased.

Interesting. I was actually at the track yesterday with mine for the first time since doing a bunch of suspension mods. I didn't have any issues rev matching. BUT, I was being pretty easy on the brakes since I didn't have a proper race pad. Definitely wasn't threshold braking often.

Hopefully this can be resolved as that sounds very annoying.

The rev match issue is a dme tune. BMW would never expect us to properly drive a manual car. This is resolved with a tune. I was ecstatic when I put the 3stg IM on with AA tune. motor was willing to rev and rev match/heal toe was spot on.

Nice, I'll ask Bob if that is something he can disable.

So I set in my driveway and gave the car all the pedal pressure I could and was able to rev it freely. Now my only thought is there was no wheel speed at the time, so maybe that changes things?

Perhaps one of the users that are experiencing this issue on track could test it the same way and report back.

Bob emailed me back this morning and said he has disabled the throttle block in older BMWs so he is going look at it and see what he can do with ours.

This would be pretty life changing for me haha.

I went to Bob to get my tune in person and he already disabled by oil temp and coolant temp limit so I am hoping he can do the same thing here.

Those limits are already set pretty high. I'd consider keeping them at stock and focusing on keeping temps cooler with a radiator, oil cooler, dedicated transmission cooler... etc.

The one thing I would tune is the Coolant ambient temperature thresholds! Have them reduced. In stock form the ambient thresholds are set way too high for economy and the coolant pump never targets lower coolant temps.

Brake disc overheating is the other big coding change you can do without needing a tune. On a 128i it WILL cause random reductions in power.

I had the limits removed to allow me to finish hot laps and I make sure to cooldown once the lap is complete. I am well aware of the car's cooling limitations but have had no time to address them.

Nothing, if anyone else wants to email him and ask maybe it'll show him there's more interest in it than just me.

I sent him another quick follow up email but I know he's a super busy guy.

Heel/toe in this car or even just blipping throttle for a downshift is a BITCH to do, idk what the hell it is but the motor just feels asleep sometimes, I think it has to do with the dual mass flywheel. My car is N51 with the AA tune and whether it's street or track you REALLY have to mash that gas pedal to get the rpm where you want them. I've found it incredibly annoying on track because you can't just blip the throttle quickly, you gotta mash that thing to the floor and get the revs way up to like 6k before letting the clutch out. It's just so annoying, I've driven e30s, e36s, e46, 335i with the N55, all just rev so freely compared to this car.

I thought it was the heavy DMFW too for a while but previous gen used DMFW too lol Throttle response of a 330i is amazing in comparison. Definitely some kind of dme logic to it.

The N54 guys are discussing something similar on spool & street right now related to doing a manual swap on a car and noticing that before flashing the DME the throttle response is raw and snappy. I just skimmed it earlier today and they were talking about about there being tuning to prevent driveline shock or something.

That's very interesting. I might try to get it sorted if I keep tracking the 128
