Hancooks Front 225 vs 215

Greetings All,

Looking for some input, sending the car in for a full service, all new disks, pads, tires, oil & brake fluid change.

I've been looking at Hancooks Ventus S1 Evo2 RFT's and noticed many of the forums users are using 225's on the front as opposed to 215's. The 225's are also considerably cheaper than 215's.

Can anyone elaborate as to why they are using tires outside OEM guidelines?

TIRES

Better availability, cheaper, larger contact patch, aggressive look, no mods needed to run them.

As the other poster said, tire selection, cost, availability. Also people like the meatier tire look. Just keep in mind you should match the rears and upgrade to 255/35/18 to keep the rolling diameters matched to the front. Not mandatory just something to think about.

Aspect ratio also affects the tread contact patch. As a rule, a low-profile tire produces a wider tread contact patch. This wider tread contact patch creates a stiffer footprint that reduces distortion and provides improved cornering traction. Aspect ratio also impacts ride. A low-profile tire usually has a stiffer ride than the standard aspect ratio of 75 or more.
Thanks for the help, whilst our roads here in the UK are horrendous and those 225's coupled 255's would make the ride just that little better i'm inclined to go for the OEM size.

If you're that worried and comfort is your biggest concern ditch the run flats if you can
